hey i have 2 12" subs (sony xplod) i know they arnt any good but im planning on adding 2 10" earthquakes to the same box the sonys are in..would this be allrite.. this box has no air ducs it completely sealed. And i have a 1900 watt amp to run all four of these would this be enough power to run all four of these?? thanks please tell me all u know thanks alot!!!!!
putting "air ducts" in the box would make it ported, tuning it to who knows what frewuency, and probably having a really strange resonant frequency... if you decide to get multiple subs, have them all be the same manufacturer / model and give them each their own airspace
if you add speakers to the same amount of space, say one has a higher excursion than another...it will compress the air inside harder and cause another speaker to decompress harder than maybe its supposed to
it will overexcurse, damage the spider or entire suspension or the surround and you'll end up with a broken subwoofer
actually the "air ducts" wouldn't raelly even be considered porting. all it's doing is destroying the sealed airspace and turning the enclosure into an infinite baffle board, which destroys any damping for the speakers, which in turn will cause them to over-extend in short order and blow the cones out of the speakers.
adding different speakers in the same airspace causes the speakers to fight against each other, and the more powerful speakers will only succeed in blowing the cones out of the weaker ones. Same reason you don't stick components or 6x9s in a box sharing airspace with subs.
also if you know *anything* about enclosure design and speakers in general you'll know that each speaker requires a specific amount of air space and that volume varies if the box is ported or sealed. If you go adding speakers, you need to increase the enclosure volume accordingly.
ok well i didnt do that instead i picked up 2 12" kicker comp VR are they any good i payed 270 for both of them and a box did i get ripped off or are these subs good?
