I just installed a set of cadence 6.5" seperates the other day, and Im about 90% pleased.
theyre running on a small alpine amp (30x2 rms @ 4)
soon to be replaced by a larger amp.
The problem is Im getting a high pitched hiss
at quiet points during some songs.
Is this somewhat normal?
could this be fixed with larger speaker wire
(currently 20 GA I believe(the stuff that came in teh box)),
or a larger amp?

Do you have the amp running from line inputs (speaker wire) or RCA interconnect cables?

Well, I'm going to vote for bad wiring before I vote for amp RF noise. Try upping the speaker wire to 16ga, and make sure the ground is in a good spot (try moving it around).

Also post what kind (brand/model) of RCAs you used; may be poor shielding there.

Do you notice any relation between the hiss and the rest of the car's power system? I.e., if you turn on the AC when it's hissing, do you hear a pop?

Theyre Stinger hyper series RCA's
and, I only notice the hissing on certain
recordings.
you know...like before the song begins, or
at a quiet part.
I will be upgrading my power cable due to
the new amp coming soon but Im not clipping
anything as of now.
I appreciate the help dude.

Those RCAs are good, so probably not the culprit.

Do you know with certainty that it's not in the recording? If it were systemic, it should be consistent.
