Hey ppl, I have noticed how most of you hate audiobahn. Well I was just wondering what I should do. I just got my @ss handed to me by 2 10" Audiobahn Subs. I got 2 12" Kicker CompVRs and a Kicker KX800.1. And this guy had these 2 Audiobahns and a JBL600.1 what's with this. He beat me on everything SQ and SPL. If Audiobahns suck so bad and Kickers are good then could someone tell me how I got my @ss handed to me like that. Also Can anyone tell me how I can get this guy back for kicking my @ss. Will 2 JL Audio 12W7s beat his Audiobahns?
depends on a lot of things. the vehicles used, sound deadening, system design, the rest of the system, how well it was tuned, and enclosure type and construction.

Well I have a full size extended cab truck and he had a little Ford Escort. Niether one of us have any sound deadening except for what came stock. We both where using sealed boxes mine 1.5CF his 1.1CF. Also I had a professional MECP installer with over 9 year experience put my system in. And the other kid installed his own system. I just want to know how this happened. I could understand if he had like 1000 more watts then me but he was 200watts UNDER me.
for one, his car's shape lends itself to better SPL. hatchbacks always will. Trucks aren't an ideal environment really. Beyond that, you might want to consider trying a box closer to 1.1 to 1.3 cu ft net volume, or go to 2cu ft per sub with 4" ID ports tuned to 34Hz. you'd get at least a +3 to +6dB gain by doing this. you'll just lose some more space.
regardless of this singular incident, you still have better subs than he does. their design is better and build quality is better. they'll last longer, and should sound better to be honest. keep in mind his car has more air volume so it's going to have better low end resonance. when you're almost sitting on top of the subs, it's difficult to make them sound great.
Yep. A truck is a lot harder to get to sound good. I'm doing a system in a truck right now, it's great, but I know it could sound better (and get louder) in a hatchback. I have a single ID Max in the console and the components are in door panels just in front and below the armrest. I'm using the truck for work right now, I plan on getting a car somewhere down the road, I might do another 67 Mustang fastback, a little less aggressive than my last one, more toward cruising/daily driving. Believe it or not, it was a great car for a system, like a hatchback, but a lot cooler (to me) than the typical CRX and Civic hatchbacks you see at so many competitions.
I have two kicker compvr 12's in a ford explorer, in a ported box and I want to know should i have went with a seal box cause the ported box rattles my truck harder and gives me tighter bass but i had a super big sealed box and it made house windows shake and it had a louder/deeper boom to it also what is a good inexpensive amp that I could use to make it sound good. I have a legacy la870 and it sounds pretty good these speakers bottom out with it half way up and with the radio on 10 of 40 (I have a pioneer radio 4500)?
a JBL bp600.1 is your best bet it'll give a full 300 watts RMS to each sub. costs about $200 or so I believe. Cheapest good amp I know with that much power. Try that. set the gains properly. usually around one-qyarter to one-half of full. no higher. remember gains match line voltages. they aren't a volume control. going too high only causes distortion and clipping.. it doesn't add any power.
as for the box.. ported will be louder, but with the JBL amp and a ported box, you'll want an RCA level subsonic filter. they're $20 from partsexpress.com and made by FMOD they block frequencies below 20Hz, to avoid loss of damping for the subs in a vented enclosure. this is a must to avoid damage to the subs. that should fix you up.
