I know close to nil about speakers so I seek some answers. I'm getting a new headunit soon, like today or tomorrow. I was also thinking of upgrading the speakers. I like to play my music loud and with the stock speakers the sound gets distorted obviously. Now should I get regular speakers or components? What are components exactly? I have a 2002 Sentra and I have tweeters in the A-pillar. Also if I upgrade all my speakers, two in the front door, the tweeters and the two rear deck lid speakers, should I get a 4 channel amp or 2?

I'd look into a haed unit with 3 sets of 4 volt pre-outs. (F/R/S)
then put decent separates up front that fit the factory spaces. what's good is up to your budget and your ears.
go with a 4 channel amp rated for around 45-75 watts RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms
use coaxials or just midrange drivers in back.
use the amp's high-pass crossover for both pair of speakers. This will help prevent them from distorting at higher volume.
If you want more low end, add a second mono amp and a sub or two.

I'm looking at the Pioneer 7000CD or the Clarion VRX 835, so I'll look into what pre-outs they have. What are coaxials?

"two way" speakers with the tweeter mounted over the midrange driver.
