Ok, so I used to be on here all the time but that was some time ago, anyway, I just baught a 1997 3000GT, I'm trying to keep it as stock as possible but the stereo HAS to be upgraded. Looking for a 1 din HU that will do well with a stock amp (upgrading the speakers later) SQ is a must with the HU.

so far these are the ones i've found that look good and also seem to have good stats

Clarion-CZ501
Pioneer- DEH-P7200HD
Kenwood- KDC-X494
Eclipse- CD5000 (low RMS but high pre amp)

looking to spend up to $400
Any and all help is appreciated

You can spend up to $400 and you only looked at those? There are plenty of other Decks out there that I would recommend instead:

Kenwood KIV-BT901:

Kenwood KDC-BT948HD (Personally Own):

yea i'd go to the makers website and only the models priced up to 300 would show so i thought that the more expensive (usually better) models were gone lol

i'm liking those last 3. the Alpine sayd AUX is optional, what does that mean?

do all the last 3 have good EQs on them?
Thanks for the fast response Joe

The optional on the AUX for that Alpine model simply means that the Deck has the ability to use AUX, but it is not standard with the purchase of the Deck. Most likely there is some adaptor Cable you will need to purchase to use that option.

Out of the last 3 Decks I posted, the Alpine has more EQ Settings, followed by the Pioneer, then the Eclipse.

Out of all the Decks, the Alpine CDA-117 & Pioneer DEG-P8300UB has the most EQ Settings, followed by the Kenwood KIV-BT901.

From those 3 you liked the CDA-117 is specifically designed for SQ meaning 7 band graphic/ 5 band parametric equalization, time alignment for each speaker, ultra low noise (105dB snr) Burr Brown 24 bit DACs.

Eclipse is in some sort of trouble as a company so if you want that make sure service wil be aviable for it.

As for Pioneer I wish there was something like the deh-p800prs. That was superb, Their current stuff is .... mainstream, also have odd equalizer center fequencies, nothing below 100hz or above 8k so no treble tweaking..

Yea, those Pioneer Premier Decks were fantastic back in the day. I wish I still had mine.
