New member Username: Knit_knotsPost Number: 1 Registered: Jun-11 | I have a 1990 Toyota Corolla which is still equipped with the factory speakers. Naturally, after being used so much, the speaker have become really messed up (no bass, static sounds come out from the speakers, the back speakers don't work, etc.) and I need new ones. The problem is that I don't even know where to begin. I'm afraid that if I go to a car audio shop I would either get laughed at for trying to put new speakers into such an old car or taken advantage of because I don't know anything. All I want are just normal speakers. I don't want anything fancy. Basically all I want are speakers that get the job done and are fairly cheap. What kind of speakers should I look for? |

Here are some suggestions on some Basic Entry Level Speakers that should be able to "get the job done" at a reasonable price: 4" Alpine SPS-400: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11569_Alpine-SPS-400.html Kenwood KFC-1093PS: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22928_Kenwood-KFC-1093PS.html Kicker DS400: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8370_Kicker-DS400.html Pioneer TS-D1002R: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22428_Pioneer-TS-D1002R.html 5-1/4" Alpine SPS-510: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34378_Alpine-SPS-510.html Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X133L http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22941_Kenwood-eXcelon-KFC-X133.html Kicker KS525: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_31831_Kicker-KS525.html Pioneer TS-D1302R: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22429_Pioneer-TS-D1302R.html Polk Audio db521: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9124_Polk-Audio-db521.html |

What type of music do you typically listen to, and do you ever plan on adding an amplifier on these speakers or just run them off your head unit? |
New member Username: Knit_knotsPost Number: 3 Registered: Jun-11 | I listen to a variety of music, but I mainly listen to classic rock, jazz, and classical music. I am not sure what you are asking - I am not at all familiar with car radio jargon - but if you mean that I am going to listen to my music via the head unit (which I assume means the Pioneer radio) then yes. Sometime in the future I may upgrade, but for right now I just want to be able to clearly listen to my music in the car. I hope this makes sense. |

As far as recommendations go, I would personally go with: 4": Pioneer TS-D1002R 5-1/4": Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X133L |

Gold Member Username: KaerfplSpencerport, NY USA Post Number: 1005 Registered: Jun-06 | I would suggest doing it yourself since it's fairly simple and it will save you $100.00. For the Rear Speakers, there should just be a Speaker Cover that will come right off. After that, you should have full access to removing the Rear Speakers. For the Front Speaker on the Passanger Side, you will need to remove the Glove Box along with a few extra 10mm bolts/screws. For the Front Speaker on the Drivers Side, you will need to start by removing the panel underneith the Stearing Colum and work your way up to the Speaker. |
