I really need some help here. I recently have purchased 2 MTX 12" subs and here is the features. I have 2 of them...
Impedance 2 Ohm Sensitivity 86 dB Driver Type Woofer Minimum Frequency Response 24 Hz Maximum Frequency Response 160 Hz RMS Output Power 200 W PMPO Output Power 400 W
and I bought a 1000 watt amplifier. here is its features-
Two Channel Bridgeable Amplification Tri-way Configuration:1/2 Channels 2 X 500Watts Total Output @ 4 Ohms 1000 Watts Total System Output @ 4 Ohms Variable Gain Control MOSFET Pulse Width Modulated Power Supply 2 Ohm Stereo Stable Built-In Variable Subwoofer Crossover High Level Low Impedance MOLEX Input Connector RCA Low Level Inputs Speaker Output Terminal Strip
I was wondering if these would work together? PLEASE HELP ME!
Arranging the wire in series would do the job in order for you to use the Subwoofer and Amplifier.
I was only worried about the capacity of the Subwoofer if it can still survive when you use the maximum of the Amplifier often and if other auto parts would be damaged when the subwoofer breaks.
The maximum? I'm sorry, but I highly doubt that amplifier will put out anything close to 500 watts rms, so I wouldn't be too concerned about anything being damaged.
Just make sure everything is wired correctly and secure, and you shouldn't have any problems.
Completely agree with Joe S The two subs wired in series and hooked to the amplifier in mono-bridged mode. Use any multimeter to make sure that you have wired the circuit in series properly and that the impedance is 4 ohms.
