Pioneer p740mp Headunit feature

Just got a quick question about an option on my headunit. When I press Audio to change settings there is a setting that says sub 1 on then if i click it again it reverses the sub. I was wondering if it reversed the signal? How the sub fires? I have no idea.Anyone know? pump1200
