Silver Member Username: Lord_huggingtonOntario Canada Post Number: 154 Registered: Oct-10 | Only use the mentioned subs in a ported box because in a sealed box the response is bad. For sealed use an LMS motor, like TC Sounds LMS-R, Eclipse SW8210/SW8010/SW8200/SW8000 10's & 12's, Sound Splinter RL-S 12 & 15, etc... I would use Eclipse SW8210's or SW8010's, as many as you can fit. I would use 1.5 cubes for the 12. These are only $150 on Sonicelectronix, 750W RMS but Eclipse recommends up to 1500W if it's clean power. I had 3 SW8200's in 3.75 cubes sharing 1500W and not that I've heard many great systems but I havn't heard one that got as low and clean. The SW8000 old version models well to QTC .707 at a decent FC - QTC .7091 / FC 28.36Hz F3 28.28Hz in 1.75 cubes - which is fackin' excellent. The efficiency is 84dB though, and the new version is 86dB sensitive. The new version isn't LMS so it shouldn't be anywhere near as clean as an SW8000. I might even try some of those. All of the other subs model kinda weird, for instance the SW8200 in 7.3 cubes is QTC .7069 / FC 23.37Hz / F3 23.38 Hz - very low and flat but 7.3 cubes for a single sealed 12" is too much - it wouldn't handle much power so the SW8000 is an obvious pick. SW8210 1.8 cubes sealed / recommended 1.5 - 2 cubes QTC .5 FC 27Hz F3 42Hz I've modeled pretty much all subs in many sealed air spaces. You don't get much better than the LMS motors. The RE XXX V4 18 is nice in 6.3 cubes - High QTC at 1.05 but FC is 30Hz and F3 is low at 23Hz. That's a low b!tch. In the Eclipse old version manuals, they come with bandpass box designs with flat response from 20 to 60Hz. Impressive. |

Gold Member Username: Drant19DUB-C, TX Post Number: 2191 Registered: Aug-07 | im with sean... a wall of crappy subs is still a wall of CRAPPY subs... 2 subs can be plenty of bass if you install them in the right enclosure and put enough power to them... I say go for the DC subs. those RE subs you are looking at are weak. New RE = Decent at best |
Silver Member Username: Lord_huggingtonOntario Canada Post Number: 174 Registered: Oct-10 | It's a wall? What subs are crap? What's the OP driving? Trunk, everything forewards and sealed off, whatever will fit. Subs that can take plenty of power. Q, XCON, etc.Large box. Hatch, bunch of sealed Fi X 12's. They're hella cheap. |
Silver Member Username: Lord_huggingtonOntario Canada Post Number: 175 Registered: Oct-10 | There's a review that says DCONs sound and do everything better than SRX's. Here's another. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/member-product-reviews/57705-ssa-dcon-12-rev iew.html The DCON 12 is 2.9 dB more efficient than the SRX 12 with 2mm less xmax. Even the SRX 15 is 87.6 dB. The SRX 12 sealed: Recommended .75 cubes QTC .8499 FC 52.78 Hz F3 45.36 Hz 1 cube QTC .7602 FC 47.21 Hz F3 44.14 Hz 1.22 cubes QTC .7069 FC 43.9 Hz F3 43.92 Hz 2 cubes QTC .6009 FC 37.32 Hz F3 45.03 Hz 4 cubes QTC .5028 FC 31.22 Hz F3 48.14 Hz DCON 12 Sealed Recommended 1.2 cubes QTC .6191 FC 52.71 Hz F3 61.25 Hz |
