New member Username: CdooglesPost Number: 1 Registered: Dec-10 | So, I have a stack of Alpine amps in my boat and one of them is having an issue. It is an Alpine PDX 4.150 that I have running to the 4 cabin speakers. A few months ago, I started getting some feedback in the speakers so after it got super annoying I crawled in the compartment and found that one of the speaker ground wires going into the amp output had come lose and was intermittently making contact with the amp. I simply reconnected the wire, but shortly thereafter the amp stopped working on Channel's 3and4. Channels 1&2 however worked fine. I removed the amp and powered it up on the bench. It works fine, but still wasn't providing any output to channel 3 or channel 4. Then, when I tried toggling the Crossover switch for Channel 1&2, it failed that channel, so now the amp is not working on any channels. I opened the amp up and there is no visible heat damage or blackening of any parts. Amp powers up fine, just doesn't produce any sound. Any ideas on where to start the troubleshooting or where I can send it for repair? Thanks- |

I emailed Jason, the main guy there and haven't had a response. Such a shame as they did excellent work for a fantastic price. But yeah, as Glass said, Perry's site and info is a great way for DIY stuff. An EXCELLENT forum/resource for DIY amp repair is here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=38 Perry from bcae1.com posts there frequently. |
