They are both good subs and im sure you would be happy with either in a good install. If it were my decision i would go with the DD assuming you can get both at the same price. DD audio products are among the best available and have been for some time.
LOL deathoob, the dd's and aq's are practically the same subs cosmetically. same basket, both have motor boots, same cone and surround... what makes the dd look funky?
ive heard someone say the aluminum coil is made in USA and the others are made in s. korea. but i've never been able to confirm that. imo it wouldn't make sense to differentiate between manufacture locations strictly because of coil option but idk...
I will disagree. Not all of DD's subs are handcrafted in the USA anymore. AQ's aluminum coils are USA and copper is Korean. Of course most parts in a woofer are from China.
almost everything is made out of the us these days, to me it doesnt matter, if it works good and the cost is low ill buy it, instead of spending hundreds more for something that is all handbuilt in the us. will a usa driver perform better? maybe, but if your only gaining 1 db using an american driver over a korean driver but spending 300 more for the us driver is it worth it? not to me. i would rather build something that is cheaper and performs for what i want it to do.
i say the aq if price matters to you, the performance you would get out of the dd just isnt worth the extra money to me.
Depends on the power and abuse you plan on giving the woofer. Chinese woofers are not bad if the company put the time and money into it and uses a good company. But when using a lot of power and abusing the woofer, you will want the american built more so the american coil.
