So if you guys can help me out that would be wicked thanks.
she was incorrect. it is physically impossible to damage a speaker by "underpowering" it. what can ahppen is that you buy an amplifier that doesn't have enough power to get teh amount of output you desire, so to compensate you crank the gain too high on the amplifier (bad mistake) and cause the amplifier to clip, which will indeed damage a speaker.
That amp also is NOT 2000 watts. it has 2 30A fuses, which means even if it's a class D amp, the most it can put out continuously is 600 watts total. (150W x 4 channels, at any impedance) and if it's a class AB amplifier, which it most likely is, you're limited to an RMS output of about 430 watts RMS total or about 107 watts per channel. I can't find any ratings for that amplifier denoting it's RMS output. Just the "max" rating, which is meaningless.
short answer: set the amplifier up correctly, wire it properly, and have sufficient current to drive it, and it'll do just fine.
