Spark cut off?

Our 95 Contour has a Viper 600 from the previous owner. It has been acting up now and then (preventing us to crank the car), but we always got around.

I tried to disable the stupid thing, but then nothing worked.

A week ago now, the car cranks, but won't start. Turns out we don't have spark; in fact, no SIGNAL from the PCM (to the ignition module, to the coil pack).

Is it POSSIBLE that an aftermarket alarm allows cranking (we also have fuel pressure), but cuts the spark?

If so: how can I go about it to get rid of that stupid alarm (we cut out the horn as soon as we got the car; we got locked out a few times since the car locks itself, etc.). Note: the car is currently NOT running, so dealer is no option (would be too expansive anyway).

Also, there is a toggle switch under the dash. What is it for?
What position should it be in?
What additional information should I try to find on the system (numbers, codes, etc.)
We do not have any remotes, if there where supposed to be any; car came with one set of keys, no remotes.
