im running close to 7krms to a pair of cerwin vega stroker pros. to what i have observed they get really hot and start to smell if i crank them. what subs do you guys think will hold up to 7k daily? now my local dd dealer said that the 9515's will handle 7k np but im optimistic. the strokers sound amazing and hit the lows like no other ive heard. i got a dc lvl 4 15", should i buy another and try those out? im stumped.
yeah its alil bit excessive so i suggest to turn the lil gain alil bit lower....
also are you 100% sure your not clipping those subs???
7k rms is alot of power do you really have 700 amps of current for those amps or amp??(typical car has less than 80 amps alternators) if not that might be your problem...
if so... the amps are clipping and damaging your subwoofer voice coils...
the dds are nice too but way overpriced in my opninion for daily...
about subs that will handle 7k rms...
maybe a fully loaded btls...
dc audio level 5
also i know the strokers are nice but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
why upgrade??? if you really like those subs and you feel good keep them....
just turn the gain alil bit down and you will be ok.. if not ull be spending alot of money on something u already have and like.........
and if you do think about upgrading well.. keep in mind if you DO upgrade you will get alil bit better... but the subs your probably are going to get will lose some sound quality... and 7 k rms daily is alot for your hears and probably will be anoyying so ull be using it only for showing up...
Fyi i would keep the strokers and keep the gain alil bit down and no bass boost at all... just to be on the safe side,,,
I will second and third them on the electrical system part. Although if that's already out of the way you can check out AA mayhem or SMD. I know t3 audio has a couple nice ones. I believe crossfire also has a couple that would do the job. I don't remember the specs but im sure the Sundown Nightshades would also be a decent choice.
1 time a while ago my ho alt was giving trouble so i had to put back stock 80A alt to go to a spl comp yet i still managed a 152.3dbs on the iasca meter with it - i was using 3 D3100 batts though ....
I know the rms on my tc sounds lms 5400 is 5k. old style. still the new 5400 hundred ultras have 4" coils and the 4hp motors. parts express sells them now at way cheaper then they were. i think they would take 7k. just a thought. best sub i've ever owned. and i've always wanted to do 2 of them.
nooooo i didnt advise u to do that unless u like reconing subs & repairing amps , ur stock alt wont be able to supply current as fast as ur amp needs it
what i was talking about was for spl burps i manage to squeeze by since it was a very short period ...
ok so i decided insted of using both amps im going to go with one and take it easy on the stock alternator. mind you even with the two amps the voltage wasnt dropping below 12.5 when cranked. rovin is right and ill just use the 2 amps for when im burping it.
new loaded btl's will take the power. i have a 15 in 4.5 cubes at 34 hz. i ran it 2 atomic 3k's strapped at 4ohms which is ~4k rms at one point i tried it with both 3k's strapped at 1 ohm ~7krms the coil deff got stinky on some songs and the dust cap blew off but the sub still runs and sounds great on 4k daily.
