I am purchasing two Alphasonik PSW912 12" Mayhem 2200W RMS subwoofers, I am wondering what would be the best way to amp these subs for them to POUND! They are dual dual 2 ohms so I have heard that a mono block amp at 2 ohms stable would be the best for them, is that correct? Also would it be best to pick up one massive amp or strap two smaller amps, I honestly want to get these up to as close to full capacity as possible so im looking to get about 4000 watts of power because each of them are 2200W each. If anybody could please give me a hand with this that would be great, I want to get a sponsorship so i need to know the best way to amp these subs. Thanks, Austin Giblen
actually you would be better off with dual 1 ohm subs and get an amp that puts out 4000 rms at 1 ohm but you do realize your going to need a battery bank and an upgraded alternator to support that
They are duel 2 ohm voice coils so you will have to run each coils in parallel then the woofers in series to each other giving you a total of 2 ohm load. DD z1 or Hifonics xxgoliath. Just make sure you have 4 red tops, 3 200 amp alts, new electrical system. Honestly, just use 1 & run the coils in parallel @ a 1 ohm load & get a Hifonics Brutus BRZ2100.1D for about $400. That's enough to ruin your car. If you really that keen to run both & give yourself brain damage, get 2 of those amps. That's your best option IMO. You'd be better off with 2 x duel 4 ohm subs, coils & subs all in parallel with a total of 1 ohm load. That would save you $ & be a lot kinder on your electrical system - less current draw. Sean, Duel 1 ohm subs will give you a 1/2 ohm load in parallel or 2 ohm load in series unless your talking about duel 1 ohm subs. As far as I know, only DD makes them as a special order and he'd be paying $$. Either way, to run this setup it's gonna cost $$, a damaged car & brain damage.
