hello, i recently had a viper 5901w/ remote start installed in my car, but the shock sensor is faulty. I am going to send it to DEI to get fixed. I dont really want to pay a shop to remove it, so Im wondering what the proper procedure would be to remove the "brain" from the car? Im going to leave the wiring and sensors in place. Is it as simple as unplugging it or do I have to do something else?
You would want to look under your dash for the main unit, is possible ask the installer where it is located approximately to get a general idea of where to look. Most likely it is under the dash hopefully tucked up in a location that is accessible. Once you see it (should be like a black box with different wire harness plugs plugged into it), unplug all wire harnesses, it may be helpful to take note of where they unplugged from, or go to http://www.directeddealers.com/manuals/IG/Viper/N5702V_2008_08web.pdf that is the link to the pdf installation manual for that unit so that when you put it back in you wont have any problems. The plugs should only go in one spot but just in case refer to the manual. Its pretty simple just unplug have it serviced then plug everything back up.
