Hey guys i havent been on here for a while now but i really need some help, i am helping a buddy throw a system together for our local spl comp on june 26th. currently he has a rockford bd1000a1 amp, its wired down to 1 ohm on a pioneer spl 12, but he is selling that sub, and he wants something that will hit a good score at the comp, the spl comp is just basic with 3 classes, goes by area of subs, so class 1 is 2 10's or 1 12, class 2 would be 2 12's or a 15, and class 3 is anything more then class 2. i am looking for a sub or a couple subs possibly for the class 1 or class 2 to hit around 140 db as i know people in class 3 only hit 144 or 145. btw its going in an 01 dodge dakota quad cab, so theres lots of room in the back, he is willing to spend anywhere from 200-400 possibly more on subs and box. i know theres alot of people on this forum thats great with this kind of stuff, so let me know, here are a couple subs i have found in my area.
i would get on of those . i know for a fact the BLs get loud with 1k. and DDs also do! the audioque sub is just a great deal for the money.
if u want to get loud u need to build a box on ur own or have some one else do it for u. u will get louder if u have some one build a box... but if u really want to get loud u will need to find a TL mic and do some testing in ur car.
either class 1 or class 2, i only have 1500 watts rms, so i dont want to enter class 3. and alright i can build a box if i have the dimensions. i built one for my power hx2 a few months ago. any other ideas boys? should i do 1 12" or 2 10"s or a 15"?
ok so i found that 15" Re SX, or for the same price i can get 2 12" re sx for the same price, remember i have approximatley 1200-1500 rms amp at 1 ohm, which ones should i grab?
alright guys i ended up picking up the two 12" re audio sx's for inside teh quad cab dakota, i need box plans, can somebody help me put shoot me an email chrismaskell1@gmail.com
why did u pick 2 sx which are rated 1000wrms each ... 1 wud have been fine off that amp
spl is a trial & error thing so i suggest 4" precision aeroports found on parts express - get 4 of them & some extra tubes lengths so u can experiment with to figure out what will give u the best numbers.....
i would just like to do ok in the comp i dont need an all spl box, i want something i can use daily, i want it to hit the lows good, and i want to avoid buying aeroports as i dont have a credit card to order them lol, so can i just make square ports or L ports or whatever their called?
ok well then it wud be worth it to make a box with a removable port using T nuts & bolts so u have 1 port to be used for comps & 1 for daily since a daily tuned box wont do well for spl at all & a higher tuned spl box will sound shiddy for daily quality music ...
