I was wondering if you could tell me how big of an in-line fuse to get for my 0 gauge for the run to the back. 1200-1500 watts rms to a dc lvl 4 15. I am most likely getting some wire from knukonceptz and ill get enough to do the big 3 included. Would getting a kit from them be a better idea?
Well using the equation...watts = volts x amps, you will find that with 1500 watts of power at 14.4 volts will yield around 104 amps of current draw. This does not include sudden spikes in voltage and what not. So, I would definitely not go anything less than 150 amps. A lot of 1/0 gauge kits these days come with 200 to 300 amp fuses just to give you a heads up. As for buying individual feet of wire and everything else such as fuse holders, distribution blocks, ring terminals, etc. I would just buy a complete kit, it will be cheaper in the long run.
