hey guys, its been a WHILE! but im building a box for a buddy of mine who has 2 cvx 15s. its going in like an 05 4 door dodge ram. i was thinking of maybe 4.5-5 cubes tuned around 33Hz? 34Hz? i would really appreciate some feedback, give me some ideas, or if you've worked with these subs before, let me know what would be best.. thanks guys. Feels good to be back posting.. haha
i had a box built out and it was like 7.9 net, but then ppl were telling me that it would be too big because these subs don't like and dont require the space that normal 15s do.. but hey, im no pro.. ill just go with that box. its tuned at 33hz
thanks for the help guys. and GW, you dont think 28 would be TOO low? this guy wants lows, but wont that take away from the upper end and the overall output? the box i have drawn out now is 8.2cubes before displacements tuned to 33hz
28 would not be too low, and there shouldn't be any "upper end" for 15" subs. the LPF for the sub amp should be set to 50Hz with an 18 or 24dB Q
subs aren't meant to be midbass drivers.
If you want it tuned to 33Hz that's fine. the shorter the port, the higher the tuned frequency, so if you tune it to 28Hz, you can always shorten the port and raise the tuned frequency if you don't like it.
i know that they arent meant to produce bass THAT far in the upper frequency range.. and u said the low pass should be set around 50? i thought you set the low pass like 4 or 5 hz under your tuning frequency?
lol yeah.. my mind is apparently not running right lately. and i WANT to run them at 28.. i just dont know if they will produce the lows like the better line of subwoofers will. dont want to get it built and then you not be able to hear the subs and just see alot of excursion and some shi++y sounding notes.... and jack, you think 7 cubes would be better suited for these, rather than 8?
