New member Username: Javid2099Post Number: 1 Registered: May-10 | This is my first post here, since I don't know where else to go. I'm looking to replace my factory head unit with something better. I'm looking for a stereo that takes SD card as an input. Everywhere I look there are units with USB input, but I don't want a USB stick always sticking out, since it looks awful. Are there any models that you guys would recommend that have SD card capability? I've also heard that there are units with rear USB capability, that would also work I guess. |

In any case, getting a unit with a rear USB is definitely the best way to go. I also don't like how the USB would stick out on the front (and from a technical standpoint is vulnerable to someone hitting it and messing up the USB or head unit). Most nicer head units have rear USB inputs anyway. |

Alpine CDA-105: http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_500CDA105/Alpine-CDA-105.html Alpine CDA-117 (I'm fairly certain this has rear-USB, not 100% sure): http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cda-117/ Clarion CZ500: http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2010/audio/source_units/cd/CZ500/us-en-pro duct-pf_1259392953332.html Pioneer DEH-P4100UB: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/CD-Players /DEH-P4100UB Pioneer DEH-P7100BT: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/CD-Players /DEH-P7100BT (there is also a Premiere edition--the DEH-P710BT) Best bet is to just google the car audio brand you want with 'rear USB' i.e. "Alpine rear USB" and you'll see several options. |

I understand you can run a USB extension cord from the rear, do you seriously think you're gonna put a USB stick in the back of the unit, then put it back in the slot? Or I must be missing something here...since you folks are saying rear USB is better...? |
Gold Member Username: IlluminatorUSA Post Number: 5369 Registered: Apr-05 | Nic: that's exactly the point. You can use an extension cord and run the USB port to wherever you want, preferably out of sight rather than having the USB protrude from the head unit (it's more of an aesthetics thing). And yes, I'm quite certain nobody is planning on sticking their hand around to the back to plug in their USB device |

This sits in my glove compartment nicely out of the way. |

I found this one on Amazon: it's inexpensive and versatile. I can't vouch for quality because I don't own one (yet).
