Amp problems

My ground wire is getting 8.7 volts and it overheats when i ground it. any ideas?

What size wire are you running and what kind of amp? What size fuse are you running?

it says its a 2000w amp im running 8 gauge to it. and i have 8 gauge for the ground

Wow! 8 gauge wire! you definitely need to upgrade your wiring. i would say at least to 2 gauge. There's too much current flowing and not enough room for it to move freely; thats why your wires are getting so hot.

I knew a guy who did the same and his wire kept melting. He never believed me when I told him he needed larger gauge wire :-)

I just never heard of 9v on the ground before. i think the amps fried, it just blew one of my Memphis mojos.
