What amp would be good and provide good power to my two MTX Terminator 12" Subwoofers. The bass package that I purchased from www.sonicelectronix.com came with the MTX TN250/1 Monoblock Amplifier that only has a 400 watt peak power. My subs have 1200 watt power handling, I need something more powerful and closer to my subwoofers max handling. Anyone have any links or advice?
you dont need max power you will be fine with the amp you have. the peak watt is just a way to sell subs not really usefull so just power them at rms or just a little bit over but 1200w isnt necessary
Part Number: TN12-04 Impedance: 4Ω Frequency Response: 24Hz - 160Hz RMS Power (Watts): 200 Recommended Amp Power (RMS): 100 - 200 Peak Power (Watts): 400 Sensitivity: 86.4dB (1W/1M) Voice Coil: 1.50" (3.81 cm) Magnet Weight: 27 oz. Mounting Depth: 5.44" (13.82 cm) Cut Out Diameter: 11.08" (28.14 cm) Sealed Enclosure Net Volume: 1.25 ft³ Vented Enclosure Net Volume: 2.00 ft³ Volume Displacement (in³): 30.92
each sub can handle 200 watts RMS continuous. Your 400 watt amp is all those subs will take. If they aren't loud enough, you may want to look for better subs and a bigger amp.
remember to double the audible volume of a speaker, power has to be increased by a factor of ten. Double the power only increases volume by +3dB
