Need Some Audio Advice (1991 Honda Accord EX)

I'm looking to put a nice stereo setup in my car, who doesn't? Anyway, I plan on getting a better head unit (current one sucks because I found it for $10 and it was a CD player, so it was better than what I had before). It's a Legacy head unit, I think the model number was somewhere around DFX19-something or something like that, can't remember. Anyway, this is the speaker forum, so here's my question.

I was wondering what brand of speakers are good to throw in the car... the car holds 4" in the front and 6X9" in the back. I'm not wanting to modify the grilles or anything, I just want replacements to fit the factory spots and just have a nice sound to listen to. I don't want anything blasting like you would at a competition or something you can hear 982734598273948753245 miles away, I just want something to put nice mids and highs in the front (good 2 way) and good everything the rear (like 4 ways). What good brands would fit this? I also plan on getting 2 12" subs if that helps any.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Just to sound the warning bell:
A "nice stereo setup" is going to run you $2000-$3000, depending on the specifics and the installer.

4" in the front is a big limitation; try the Focal 100HC ($100).

Ideally you'll put midbass in the back instead of full-range speakers, because your front 4s aren't going to create much of a stage on their own and 4-ways are not only nuts, but put all the sound in the back seat -- when was the last time you went to a concert with the performers behind you?

See some of the recent threads about midbass/midrange speakers for more info.

You'll need at least 2 amps to power all of this, and my current recs are Hifonics Zeus, Kenwood (Excelon or > 7201 models), PPI, Phoenix Gold.

Post more when you have a better idea of what you want to spend.
