Ok so i shoved some memphis pr15d4's Behind the seat of my 87 s10 andi just noticed that they are kinda rubbing and making a squeking sound and i know this must be bad for the subs any idea what to do? I really dont want to down size....
haha what the phuck is up with the cow theme dude lol
My friend had the SAME set up in his truck and the same prob and it didnt really bother him/his system.. but even if it did effect it he didnt give a damn.
i guess i didnt think about the fact that you probably dont have a double baffel (all my boxes i build double baffel). If you dont then yea you need to build a new box.
If you have a double baffel it would involve a router and a circle jig.
all you do is cut away at the baffel in a large enough diameter so that the outside of the sub and gasket will fit into the new hole. obviously you need to leave wood so the sub dosnt fall into the box so dont go all the way through hence why you need a double baffel.
only other thing i can think of is to get grills or belt sand the bottom of the box to drop the box down a bit until it fits. If you need to you can belt sand the back of the box too so the box will move away from the seats. I figured doing the bottom would be fastest since its the least area to sand but doing both will obviously give you the most room. either way sanding will take a long time and will only be a slight change so it may not be enough.
is that compatible with my subs ? they are Memphis 15 pr15d4's
I REALLY dont want to make a new box -.-
really Im thinking about just screwing some wood blocks to the box to space the seat from the sub just in certain spots because im already up AS FAR as i can go im rubbing the wheel xD
not sure if they will fit or not but iff you contact kicker im sure they can give ya measurements and you can check to be sure. most likely they will fit but dont trust me completely i would check just to be sure.
about how much more clearance do you need? you could always just recess the subs by like 1/8" and do some sanding.
between the 1/8" recess and sanding 1/8 off the bottom and 1/8 off the back you can get nearly 1/2" more clearance. also if you go the sanding route you only need to do so in the places where it hits the inside of your trunk.
I have no trunk thats in a pickup truck xDDD Reg cab
its not so much the clearance as it is the back of the seat so i think if i put like 4 wood blocks around the sub in a square shape i should be good but im not quite sure what do you think?
Nevermind i looked that up but i dont like that idea

This is a no brainer. The Bessie way if you can't Moooooooooooooooooooooooooove em back would be to put a grill over em and roll with it. I really don't see any udder way without going thru more trouble than it's worth. . I ain't Bullshittin'! lol
reread my post.. I gave you a solution if you can't moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove em back.. I understood completely. Just fukkin' with ya bout the interracial box colors.
Take a 8 pieces of wood that are a lol bigger the the excursion on yr driver and nail/screw/however the f**k you wana do it and put a piece above/below/each side of the driver and there you go buddy, sand the edges down so it's not f***king yr seat in the acehole.
And op, No need to have a cow about it, I would grab it by the horns this way. Ok, One way to milk it is to cut the front box opening so the subs will flush mount inside, giving you 3/4 more room before it hits the leather. Then make a new mounting flange to remount the subs inside. It wont look as cheesy and should be tits to make these. If you arent good at wood working you could farm it out, But Hay, nothing to lose.
I didn't even notice the amp mounted on the box. Flush mounting the subs won't prevent the seat hitting the amp. With the seat up against the amp do you have enough ventilation for it? It also looks like you might not have any room inside the box for a flush mount anyway. How much clearance is between the motor and the inside rear of the box?
Oh and Marc has a good suggestion if you have the room inside the box for it. You can always make some MDF rings to give you the inside mounting flange to deal with the single baffle. Again though none of that will protect the amp, which appears to be deeper than the subs anyway.
I use the amp to kinda push the seat off of the subs they are getting the air but its that damn squeaking thats pizzing me off and the rubbing thats scaring min
