Silver Member Username: Texas_bassHouston, TX Post Number: 719 Registered: Nov-05 | well need to know year make model how much u looking to spend first then we can go from there |
Silver Member Username: SkdooleyRoanoke, VA Usa Post Number: 211 Registered: Oct-09 | For a fairly simple setup I'd say get 2 dual 4 ohm alpine type Rs, a sealed enclosure that meets the recommendations of the subs (internal volume) and an AQ1200D. This will be more than enough sound for you without spending a lot of money. You'll also need a 4 gauge wiring kit. |
New member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 2 Registered: Jan-10 | around 200 dollars range and its a 2006 jeep grand cherokee |
Silver Member Username: Simple_smithLapeer, Michigan United States Post Number: 206 Registered: Dec-08 | hmm the setup above would be nice, but it doesn't fit your budget... maybe a single 12 on ~ 500 watts would be a definite increase over stock. thats the only thing that would give you a decent amount of bang for your buck with your current budget. Do you already have an Aftermarket Head Unit? its going to be kinda hard to get you a nice system for 200 bucks one of the first things you'll learn about car audio is that it gets expensive fast. |
New member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 3 Registered: Jan-10 | no i do not have an aftermarket head unit |
Bronze Member Username: ExcursionPost Number: 53 Registered: Jan-08 | you need to find a better forum than this one. http://www.caraudioforum.com/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ http://www.realmofexcursion.com/forum.html http://www.caraudio.com/forum/ |
New member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 4 Registered: Jan-10 | hows a PYLE 15'' 3600 Watt DVC? |
Gold Member Username: Mrskullz1New York Post Number: 1354 Registered: Feb-07 | stay away from pyle - their prices may be really cheap - but remember, you get what u pay for. whats wrong with this forum? |
Gold Member Username: Mrskullz1New York Post Number: 1355 Registered: Feb-07 | and my advice for you is to save up more money if you want to be happy with your system. From that 200 - i would suggest that you buy a decent head unit and wiring for everything. Start from their and then save up for a decent sub/amp setup. You can find a decent sub/amp setup for around 350 if you look around. Thats just my .02 |
New member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 5 Registered: Jan-10 | thanks everyone for their help first off. i know some questions may be dumb but, what can i tell ya. how about Quantum 15" 2000 WATT 1000w RMS? or the SONY XPLOD XS-L156P5B 15" 1,500 WATT? and what will a decent headboard help? |
Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 5533 Registered: Dec-06 | You're going in the wrong direction already with those brands. $200 isn't gonna buy anything decent, even just a sub and amp. Are you saying $200 for everything? |
New member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 6 Registered: Jan-10 | originally, but not anymore. what brands should i lean towards? |
Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 5534 Registered: Dec-06 | for subs: Alpine Type R Fi SSD Audioque 2.5 JBL P Series for decks: Pioneer Premier (stfu everyone in advance) Clarion Alpine Eclipse amps: Hard to beat AudioQue and Phoenix Gold for the cash. |
New member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 7 Registered: Jan-10 | alright good to know. and in terms of head units. are these necessary to the good sound system? |
Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 5535 Registered: Dec-06 | Also, remember it is not hard at all to get loud in a Cherokee. One decent 12 or 15 on 800-1200RMS will slam. |
Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 5536 Registered: Dec-06 | Yes you need a solid HU. This Pioneer is the best buy. link |

New member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 10 Registered: Jan-10 | different boxes? what the difference between pre-fab and what i should get? |
Silver Member Username: DomenicoBanginGMCArizona Post Number: 526 Registered: Apr-09 | Im selling 2 Alpine Type R's 1242d ina box, tuned to 32hz. Subs are in perfect condition, never had any probs. In the link below is pictures/video of em. https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/613880.html |
Silver Member Username: SkdooleyRoanoke, VA Usa Post Number: 214 Registered: Oct-09 | A pre fab box is mass produced. A box that is made custom for you, is built to your specs. If going ported, you can control the tuning, the internal volume. Generally custom built boxes are built more solid as well. |
Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 5158 Registered: Mar-06 | That pioneer is the entry level, ok, but you will want to upgrade it before long. For $20 more heres a decent HU that will last a few set ups. Probly even find it cheaper on ebay if you use that, http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19398_Kenwood_Excelon_KDC-X791_RB.aspx And if you are willing to go used, you can get decent deals on box and sub combos. But in gereral, get in this order New stereo, New Components New speaker amp new subs and sub amp. gl. rereading, that Pioneer Brad linked is decent as well. Better then the one you had listed. But the kenwood is still better imo. |
Bronze Member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 11 Registered: Jan-10 | where do you think the best place to order a custom made box would be? |
Bronze Member Username: Speaker004Post Number: 12 Registered: Jan-10 | http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=9230913&pid=1218063830070 how's this for the head plate? |
Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 5164 Registered: Mar-06 | that one is ok, its similar to the entry excelon x593, but with lower rca voltage and only a 1 year warranty. TheX lines have a 2 year warranty. If your looking at kenwoods, look at the exceloan line with numbers like x6, x7,x8 x9. The high the number the better. But any x line is decent, the regular ones are ok, but would go with something else at that point. So either x line or that one Brad picked out. |
Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 5165 Registered: Mar-06 | and please refer to them as head units, not head plates. It will make it too easy to be ripped off if you cant even get the termonalogy right. |

Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassYork, Pennsylvania Post Number: 13095 Registered: Jun-04 | Id go with alpine over the kenwood to be honest but it will be at the sacrifice of better line output voltage 2.2 volts vs the kenwood 4 volts. 2.2 volts is still acceptable. http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/alpineida-x305.aspx 210 shipped |
