The smaller sub is a 15" Sonance. It is pictured for a reference/ size comparison. Only one of the new subs is pictured.. The other is still in the original box.I hoping to gain a few DB's over the 18" alphas and being able to put at least 1/2 of the rear seats in (for son's car seat). Have to figure out where the batt's and amps will fit into equation. without having to change up Power wires too much..
lol yeah.. it is the magnet boot for the sonance.. He was enjoying the hell out of it. As you can see, He likes to be the center of attention.. I'll be building 2 boxes at the same time.. Both boxes will be for 2-15" HW's.. The other box is for a forum member who lives in Baton Rouge.. He has the Hw Ground Pounders.. They will be going in a 2004 Impala..He is waiting for his D9 to arrive. Will be a nasty Impala when it is done.. He's buying all the MDF for both boxes.and will be helping me with some of the more monotinous tasks.. We'll make a day out of it... I figure that's a fair deal and I don't mind helping a member out since he is willing to get decent equipment and do the nessessary upgrades to properly run that much power... My HW's are the Heavier duty SPL versions.. I'll be running the same RD5750 but I will be able to run it to it's full potiential as opposed to when I was running the Alphas.. . Upgraded batts and adding more deadner.. I'm gonna try a different box design for the Hw's.. Should be interesting..
I can't tell you how pleased I am with the DC Power alt.. The best decision I've made was getting rid of the Mechman..
ALMOST DONE. FORGOT TO TAKE PICS OF STEP BY STEP PROCESS, BUT I DO HAVE SOME PICS.. WILL POST EM WHEN I GET A CHANCE. sorry about the caps.
RotoZip sucks for sub cutouts.. Even with the circle jig. for that reason i opted for the double baffled top mount w/ dual all-thread for added bracing. Trying out a couple of new things... Using a aluminum tape (inside and outside) as well as caulk(inside only) to insure a good seal.. Way overkill. This tape is special orde3red and used primarily when manufacturing aircrafts. It will bleed you out if you are not carefull. lol The weather has not been ideal for box building so I have been doing what I can outside untill It gets to cold to function. then I bring this heavy mofo inside and do what I can in there. most of the rotozip work was done indoors which the old lady just LOVED. Good thing we have a new vacuum.. waiting for paint to dry then I need to carpet and install wiring and subs. It doesn't look as good as the professional box builders on here. but I'm sure it will prefom well. (fingers crosswed) Then I will start the complete process over again for edward and his 2 HW's..
repeat pics of cracked windshield thread. 45" crack along the bottom of what was a perfect windshield. And yes, they are a lot louder than the 18" Alphas!.
I cracked my windshield with this new setup (on the first day).. I don't want it any louder for daily, but I wouldn't mind doubling up the power for competions only.
Since the subs upgrade I've : -Sound deadned the hatch window and filled in the window area with a hard foam and spray foam , covered by the same carpet tat was used on box. On top of keeping the window from opening and rattling due to the pressure, I extended the carpet to reach into the hatch lining helping it do the same. Nowhere near as noisy and a lot less hatch flex. removed the keeker linces plate fram and fat matted behind licese - sound deadned the floor in cargo area - filled in some body panel spots with spray foam -pulled batts, amps, amp rack, ect out. -re-installed driver-side rear seat for sons car seat (when needed) -re-configured all 6 rear batts and reshaped the buss-bars to fit the different levels
painted the wood to be used as amp racks which will strattle all 6 batts all ina straight line between the pass side front seat and sub box. still need to re-run some wires, build the racks mount the amps, crossovers (comp sets) and re hook all the power wires.
