Wednesday, September 23, 2009 - 00:04 GMT A recent thread got me thinking... With woodlawn cabinetry shut down and fisher customs no longer doing custom orders.... are there any good box builders left? Has the economy really slowed audio equipment sales so much that these guys are no long in business? The decline in car audio sales could maybe explain the slowdown of the forums lately also.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 - 00:10 GMT YES!! there are. The shop that I go to has some of the best builders in Florida. Its a place called Maximum Audio Video and that is where all the Tampa Bay Bucs go to get their speaker needs and installations. They get business all the way from Washington state. They are really nice too and hook me up all the time!!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 - 00:38 GMT PWK is still alive a kicking. AMI might still be in business, but Steve and Mike had a falling out over stolen equipment iirc.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 - 02:26 GMT you need to know a good amount of physics to understand how to design a box, but building the box is just time consuming. Precision cuts too. Make sure everything is nice and snug. If you want to learn more of the physics of it take a look at some of these articles. They might interest you. http://www.caraudiomag.com/technical/index.html happy building!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 - 04:51 GMT yea I guess Mike and Pete are the last guys that have been around the online business for the long haul. And jeesh appearently you have to put "no noobs" on every thread now or you get 12 post noobs thinking local shops are the best :/

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - 21:40 GMT The best advice is to build one and learn from it. Don't expect confetti and balloons your first go around with it. Above all if you're not comfortable with a tool put it down.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - 21:49 GMT Used to do that. Then my dumb azz almost cut my own thumb off. Drinking and power tools is as about as safe as staring down a cobra. Wait. You've probably already done that.
