Positives...
Can put up high SPL scores.
Rarely seen/used (if thats a positive...)

Negatives...
Must me made perfectly
Not very useful for daily systems, they usually have extreme peaks
Bigger box than ported/sealed systems (usually)
They take a lot of trial and error
Sometimes makes subs pop from over-excursion (rare, but more common than other boxes)

Id rather see you build a 6th order than keep working with the stupid dome... With 4 15s (or 12s, i forget what your running) the box might be as big as the wall tho haha.

To get you started...

When building a 6th order bandpass box (quasi-sixth is another name for it) you look at it as 2 different boxes with 2 different tuning freqs. I would start by tuning the interior port (the one closest to the sub) low at around 30-35hz and then tuning the exterior port higher at around 80hz(some say higher) to start with.

Test it on a mic and then make adjustments to both ports until it hits a peak SPL. Usually the interior port will be tuned anywhere from 5-20hz different from the exterior port depending on the vehicle, subs, ext...

There was a few guys on the termpro forum that knew alot about bandpass boxes when i was messing around with them a few years back. Maybe search there.

Bandpass can be very good for daily the key is finding the right sub and getting the box right.

I dont remember the exact scores but i know we broke 150 with 4 10s. Im pretty sure the amp was a crossfire vr2000 but i have no clue what ohm we were running at. It was awhile ago.

4th and 6th order boxes can be very nice for daily drivers also. I did a DD1508 in a 6th order awhile back and did 140 @ 45hz w/ it and it played everything. Also, I am doing a 6th order in my avalanche w/ 2 DD3515's.

I have done the DD2512 in a 4th order and it sounds great. Amazing extension and quick punchy bass.

Some subs are mean in 6th orders but suck in 4th order. Its tricky.

I'll tell you what's tricky.
I just got out of the shower, and all my clothes/towels are on the other side of the house.

i don't see how they can be good for daily. i thought they would have a higher peak, just loud with a few notes and suck on everything else

how do you change them for daily?

You get two peaks and you can design them to work either way. A good bandpass box and sub will have more range too.

Is it me or does the ported side generally get to be twice the size of the sealed side.

Also how would I design a box for 8 12's in a compound isobaric design?

i talked to a guy today about it. i think he said the closer togather theyare the more notes they will play. and farther the difference the more of a peak you would get. but idk i might have that mixed up
