The HDC3 is an extremely loud sub with below average SQ.

they have a guy on the site winning a ton of sq comps. i think they have pretty good sq and get VERY loud. not really made for lows like other subs,
but gosh for the money u can't loose

any sub in a FULL SQ CAR can sound good.. basically because they are more than likely only playing 20-40hz range at a volume only loud enough to fill in

i really hate it when people try to compare subs made for spl and say they have great SQ solely based because someone is running one in an SQ setup

far as AQ.. the older the better.. new stuff.. pffft!

I think you should not listen to anything dBlk says, take advice and guidance from Brad and Jack.

what do you want out of your system, what are you running currently, type of vehicle?

dBLK = Upload

again...

not a sq sub by any means. They get loud and can handle more than rms of clean power.

I to would take the previous hd3 over the new hdc3's any day. The hd3's were built so well. I abused mines and felt they were indestructible. I used mines for about a year on the Massive 3k amps. After taking them out they were stiff as the day I got them. Wish I never sold them. + American parts ftw.

just because the parts are not made in america doesn't mean they are bad. its cheaper to make things over seas so SOMETIMES! u get soemthing better for a lower price. and that is what they did with the hdc3.
both are great. but i have friends that own both subs and they like the hdc3 better and in the same box it is a small bit louder.
and im not just saying this because its wat i think.

The Hdc3 from what I can tell has better sq with a medium sized port rather than a large slot port. My brother had 2 hdc12's.

dblk.. the chain is only as strong as the weakest link.. doesn't matter where it is built

and you reference to the new sub being louder.. if its true.. oh well.. start stacking power on them.. he old ones will hold up a hell of a lot better

they were a lot closer to DD then than now..

so to the OP.. what is your budet.. and what size sub/s can you run?

Youll have to step up alot in box size with the 15's. You would either want to do two 12's 1 15 or a single 18 (which has more cone area than two 12's) in my opinion.

^^ I agree. This guy refuses to say if all he wants is SPL so I assume that he does, and one BTL18 dual 2 with the HiXmCoil in a 5.9 @32hZ on that SAZ would be a beautiful thing.

Two HDC3-C 15" D1 would be sweet on that SAZ3000D.

try for the most cone area with a box big enough for the subs.
idk about putting a bunch of power to the new hdc3s, but i don't see y they would not hold up the same if not better than the hd3

"but i don't see y they would not hold up the same if not better than the hd3"

the older models were made in the US, the newer ones are made in China. hdC3....

C=Cheaper parts
C=China

the older ones are american made = better

well you wouldn't say the resources are cheaper quality because you really have no idea what you're talking about.

cheap labor normally always ends in cheap quality..

if cheap labor was so good.. then that would mean all the old circuit city and best buy installs are great.. paid minimum wage to do installs...

lol, i used to come on here every single day and read opinions and check out peoples new systems and scores, but as i get even more knowledge and expierence every day, i realize how full of s*** and opinionated people are on here, it almost seems like it gets worse every month. the hdc315's with aluminum coils are built in house, which is the same warehouse as dd, being hand made using very good quality parts. i have had both dd and aq, heard many fi, and not just the btl, the q and bl as well, among other good subs (have heard w6's as well, just metioning because i see that people on here think that it is a good sq sub, and it is i do not disagree), and i can say aq very much so compares to the dd's and sound good, not saying it is a perfect sq sub by any means, but it definitely is a sql sub that gets loud and sounds good doing it. its also funny to see the flavor of the month on here, when someone gets a quality product, and everyone talks about it for eons and has to get it too. not trying to be an a** just getting tired of seing misleading, strictly opinionated information thrown at noobs.

also the copper coiled hdc's are made overseas for cheaper labor, still use quality parts. hdc's as well surpass the old hd's in all ways, sq, loudness, and power handling on the aluminum coil.
