i put the subs in with just a few screws to make sure my front baffle would fit over them ok.
front baffle
with out front baffle
wit front baffle on
so its 3 layers thick now. i am going to make one more layer that goes on the inside. and im also thinking about doing an other one over the front baffle i just made. idk if that would look cool or stupid
I don't know about you but having the subs spaced different amounts from each other would bug the sh!t out of me...like how you had to cut in one place because they are so close then left the other...I can't stop looking at the picture and its driving me crazy
hahaha. i really thought i was going to have to cut all the places like that! haha if u really want when i go over it with the fiberglass ill make it look like it goes all threw.
up front i got a nine 2x amp powering some 6.5 M6s for the mids and aluminum cdt tweeters for my highs
I don't see a problem with the offset sub placement.. I see what you are talking about, but they are not just individually or randomly spaced.. It is just 2 subs slightly offset from the other two... Looking good thus far. 155.6 still my guess on that power and that is IF you get it all just right. good luck on the goal.
what amps and imp. also charging. ill make a guess once i get the real info. also what frequency will yoube burping at and what type of vehicle is that.
i am leaving those braces like that for now. i might add on to them later. we will see. i am running out of time
jk! u ask what hz ill burp at???? is there any way to even know what will be loudest? my last had a hit note of 50Hz and the box was tuned to 40Hz.
this wall is going to have a back baffle that slides back and forward so the volume of the box will change. i will also have 2 back baffles that are different shapes. so ill be able to change the volume and tuning to find what is loudest. plus! ill make a few ports so i can cut on that also. i have no idea what volume it will end up being or what it will be tuned too. less that 30 cuft and between 40 and 80 Hz???? thats my guess
i get that you wire all sub vc in parallel to get .5.
I under stand that .25 ohm/amp equals .5 ohm strapped for burbs, but daily? i figured 2 ohm would be more sense able when not competing. But I see now that we were talking about JK guessing his score and that would be for the competition.
ya... d money u might be right. i don't think i would make it any wider. maybe ill show u y with some pix but i don't want to explain it.
jack! what would be the point in finding out my hit note then building a 30cuft wall??? by the time i have all this in my car the not will not even be close to the same.
i do have a small problem. when i drive down the highway the top of the wall is moving back and forth about 1/8 inch. its not much but after i take time to seal it off i don't want it to come unsealed. i was thinking about taking some threaded rod going threw the box and screw into the back doors. i was also thinking about spraying that expanding foam between the doors and box. but i have never used expanding foam. that might just make everything a mess and get over everything.
uif you use expanding foam, lay down like black trash bags (heavy duty) or carborad. something like that, that the expanding foam will stick too, seal, and be removable later, so you have no mess. if you box is swaying...i think id find out why its doing that, and fix the enclosure, instead of finding a quick fix.
" jack! what would be the point in finding out my hit note then building a 30cuft wall??? by the time i have all this in my car the not will not even be close to the same."
yes i have. looked it up before i started. but i still don't understand y knowing my hit note before building would help. temp changes the wavlengh so it will change depending on the day. and like i said after building the wall the note will change. i don't think it is posible to find out what the best note will be before i build. i know that a 50Hz note was like 28 feet at 70 degrees outside. so going off that i think my tuning should be around 55 to 60 Hz. which i will be changing my Hz for testing anyways
if im missing something please tell me.
sean...... i only have a pair of 800 kinetics......................... i have a good alt... but i might be in trouble in that area.. might be time to spend some more money
ya... i go to work in about 6 hours... so today is my day to work on it... the only thing is its raining...... again! everyday i don't have school or work it rains!!!!!!! i have not got to work on it that last 3 days i have had free because of rain!!! i would be almost done by now! its driving my crazy
it has been raining all freakin day!!!! now i have mud all over in my car along with everything else. o well! hahaha. im waiting for this to dry then ill smooth the edges and start the fiberglass over it all.
i was going to just fiberglass 3 layers over it and not fill it.... i guess i could fill it with expanding foam... that crossed my mind but i didn't know if it was over kill. the wood is prrtty close togather
rick told me the angles. and lee said he didn't know what it would do if anything. jermy L told me to place the subs and port like this
15 things??? please make a list! and post it! if i agree with any of them ill change it now. and i would like to change now other than wait until its painted and looking pretty
-every joint in the box seems weak. -not properly mounted to the vehicle (the wobble you were talking about). -minimal to no actually cross-tied brasing (all braces seem independent, no support from each other) -the 500 jagged corners will obstruct airflow -3layer baffle actually has VERY little support, (look at getting some threaded rod at least) -sloped floor at the base of the port side will make your tuning all nutty. -particle board???
how do my joints seem weak? its mounted in the car very well.. or will be when i get that far, im not done with my front baffle. it will be 4 layers thick with fiberglass and have many threaded rods for bracing. ITS NOT PARTICLE BOARD! ITS ADVANTECH!
can u explain the corners? if it is what i am thinking about it is were i am rounding them off.
the sloped floor has had me wondering. if u saw the early pix of the build it was different. but i had to have one side sloped and the middle sloped some so the subs would fit. do u think i should try to take the slop away? look at how my subs set and tell me what u think. i do konw that i should prolly do something about that.
canaan i don't mean to sound like i think i know everything. u have done a lot more walls than me! but i think everything u have said i already had planed to fix im just not that far into it yet. other than the front slop. what would u do on that part?
well if no one has tried it maybe it will be even better. i mean no one on this forum has used this kind of wood either. so i guess it is a big test in a lot of areas
it was the first time i used foam... it wasn't bad... then i came out an hour later and it GREW! haha. i thought it was done but it just kept getting bigger. it is great for what im using it for. but next time i wont use a full can for one corner
I hope you at least get a 154 after all this work man. I just wish you would have listened to us about a few things for an overall better final product.
well i sure hope i get a 154. my last box sucked and keep in mind i was over 150 with it. and now i have 3 times the power. my last box was single layer mdf. it had some flex! and it was not all the way sealed from the front.
i don't think that one angle is going to make it be off that much ! and in the place its in i really had no choice. it was either that or make the port a lot smaller
