Gold Member Username: BasssquaredKansas Post Number: 2560 Registered: Nov-06 | i hooked up my RD3250.1 amp in a 02 Acura CL Type S i had the gain at a little under half whenever i turned the volume anywhere more than 1/4 of the way up the amp would go into protect. So i never really turned it up. Well one day the amp went into protect i restarted my car like usual and the amp just never put out power again. It wasn't in protect the sub was fine i checked all my wires and everything was perfect. I've replaced the amp and everything works flawlessly i was running the amp at 4 ohms so i was only getting 750 watts out of the amp which is perfectly fine on a stock alt. I'm extremely baffled as to why the amp just took a sh!t on me. Well i was told by a knowledgeable person that RD amps dont like low rca signals and that maybe thats what damaged my amp since i'm using Line out converters on a stock head unit. Well if this is true i wanted to know so that i dont damage my RD1750.1 that i have coming in i ran my DX1500.1 in that same car with the same wires at 1 ohm with no problems for months ,so i'm really confused since as far as i knew the DX1500.1 also uses the same board as the RD1750.1 and Sundown1500.1s maybe i just got a faulty amp since it did start going into protect as soon as i hooked it up? who knows well any info you guys can shed on this i would greatly appreciate thanks guys. |

Gold Member Username: JtownTexas Post Number: 3736 Registered: Mar-07 | that's strange, I have 2v preouts and have never had a problem. I was actually told I don't have enough power to get the amp to really perform, which was just a sales pitch I'm sure. I've also never heard of low volt preouts causing damage. |
