Bronze Member Username: CaddycadPost Number: 46 Registered: Jul-05 | im so tired of my 2 15 L7's, im looking to go with a new t40001BD amp and a sub(s) that can handle daily abuse from it.. i like low notes and spl with some SQ (more than the l7's for sure) will a 18" BTL handle this? setup needs be able to fit in the trunk of a 96 impala.. also i have a 260 amp iraqqi alt and a 2400 kenetic battery, is this enough for that amp? |
Gold Member Username: Basebalz13Moneta, Va Usa Post Number: 1265 Registered: Aug-07 | no thats not enough for that amp... whats wrong with your L7's? what kind of box is it in? and as far as you liking SPL ull be alot louder with 2 12's rather than 1 18 and you would have lot better SQ |
Bronze Member Username: CaddycadPost Number: 47 Registered: Jul-05 | i guess im looking at that second alternator huh? the L7's are ok just not loud enough for me anymore im pushing them at their rated power and ive had them in 3 diffrent sealed boxes the current one is tunneled using most of the trunk.. looking to go LOUD and deep |
Gold Member Username: Basebalz13Moneta, Va Usa Post Number: 1266 Registered: Aug-07 | no more batts. also i doubt that iraggi is puttin out 260 sorry ![]() and theres ya problem those subs love ported tuned to 35 ![]() 4 cubes each tuned to 35 you wont be disappointed |
Bronze Member Username: CaddycadPost Number: 48 Registered: Jul-05 | that sucks i thought iraggi was good, guess not ;\ im just looking for a huge change towards competition level but for daily use, do u think 2 15 BTL's would go twice as loud in the same kind of box youre talking about with twice the power? heres the current box btw http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/845/img02012lu9.jpg http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/6938/photo11lx6.jpg |

Maybe go with a pair of 12s? The right box would fit perfectly. Do you have any digital design dealers around you? Two 3512s would be mean on ~3.5-4k ![]() |

Gold Member Username: ZacdavisBeloit, Wi Post Number: 1741 Registered: Dec-03 | All of it is for wussies, I figured that out after 3 years of competing. I studied resonant frequencies, distance from source to mic regarding the wavelengths and quarter waves, loading/phasing, how the compression and refraction of the wave play an intricate role mic placement, impedance rise, everything, theres so much that goes into a world class SPL install..... then, you see some redneck idiot that cant even spell wavelength let alone understand the relationship between box/baffle positioning and you see them put up a world record run....so you're sitting there scratching your head thinking "whaaaaaaat thaaaaaa?...." So you ask them, how did you go about figuring this or that out, they reply with..."i don't know those big words buddy but we did build 48 boxes last week and this one ended up being the loudest" Haha, so ya see, this stuff may be rocket science, but anybody can win through trial and error, build build build and then build some more..... Theres only a handful of good builders out there...the smart ones get paid to do it, the others do it for a trophy. :P |

Bronze Member Username: CaddycadPost Number: 49 Registered: Jul-05 | lolol alright so i think im gonna try to build that ported box with 4 cubes each some how.. not sure how since the one taking up most of the trunk now is like 3 cubes each i think? ill figure something out.. and i was also thinking of some how getting the box ports thru the rear deck, good idea? i also figure if i wanted to i could always take out the L7's and put a new board of wood over the square holes with new round subs if i want to in the future.. am i right so far? |
