Any subwoofer that is not a 'Free Air' sub will 'work' in a bandpass box. The only way to make it sound right is to design the box around the speaker.
Bandpass boxes are the second most difficult (second only to Waveguide) to design. You not only have one driver and one enclosure and one port to deal with but basically one box firing into another which is ported into the cab of the vehicle.
One little change requires a total recalculation. The difference between perfect accuracy and a tiny boo-boo is the difference between excellent sound and total crap. If you want the benefits of a bandpass box, pay someone to design it and build it. If you want the cool look of the prefabs with their 3/8" lexan window, buy it and accept it for what it is.
