Wednesday, February 18, 2009 - 00:44 GMT Larger case means jack, and causes more issues like needing a different belt, etc. Output is what matters. I would rather have a direct replacement which is what DB and ohio do.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009 - 03:23 GMT I think the point of it all was that Ohio was cheaper this time for the van. It may be different for other vehicles. Believe me, Canaan and Cory got estimates from everyone lol.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009 - 10:45 GMT When I'm driving I'm idling half the time. Traffic ftl. Then you're either constantly adjusting the volume because your 300+a alternator does <100 at idle, or watching your nice 14v with drain drop to 11v. I'd rather have high output idle.

Because you're a hillbilly! Nah, just messin. In all honesty I've only heard bad things about Ohio Gen, let us know how they perform/hold up Canaan. I haven't heard about them for quite some time now.

Thursday, February 19, 2009 - 01:14 GMT ohio gen makes awesom altys. so does mechman. and a bigger case then stock means they have to overwind the the smaller case to perform better. usually makes them a higher risk for failure. im sure canaan got that alty cheaper then he will tell you.lol

Thursday, February 19, 2009 - 08:40 GMT ^^^ please explain mark. Some people on this forum think mechman is the be all and end all of alternators.... they are not.... I knew one person who had a problem but I figured only 1 is pretty good.

Thursday, February 19, 2009 - 10:51 GMT I'm happy with my Mechman alt, but I've had experience with several other brands. They make a nice alt and have great customer service but anything would seem like a step up after the last company I dealt with Alternators are just going to have problems once in a while. I got a powermaster 200 and it was doa. I exchanged it for another and had no more problems. It happens.
