Memphis Subs are sub par IMO.. I have NEVER heard a MOJO that I liked, including our local dealers Demo ride. Memphis amps are not to bad. I prefer the older M- Class series over the newer Purple ones. The larger amps are not to efficient. I have had good luck with the Memphis PR1000.1 It is a solid lil amp that puts out rated power. but I can find better and more powerful for the price(AQ1200)
JL audio have very nice amps. And the subs that you mentioned are not bad at all, but JL (IMO) prices are too high, There is better for less everywhere on the web, if you don't mind buying online. I usually ONLY buy online for most of my system needs. Are you stuck on JL? Maybe it is time for a change and give some of these online company's that make GREAT products for A LOT less money in most cases. a try. How much a you looking to invest in subs, Amp, and enclosure? I assume you are wanting a SQL setup as you stated in OP. How much power are you wanting to run(rms)? What gauge wire is you current amp setup utilizing? What kind of vehicle is this going in? What kind of music do you listen to?
I'm looking to invest about $1500-1700 As far as rms I don't know actually just something that hits hard I had three jls with the xtant I liked how that sounded
That is a great bugdet. With the ideas that people will give you, you will likely need to upgrade to a 0 ga. kit and do the big3 uprade. What exactly is your current setup(HU, fronstage, mid/highs amp, electrical-battery's,ect...) consist of. I trying to figurre out if any of those need to be figured into budget.
I also had a PR1000, great amp but the AQ1200 is a much better deal, as far as subs go, i've owned both JL and memphis, the JLs are way better, and again there's much better deals out there for subs.
x2 with everything Mark said. JL is just too expensive for what it is. I wouldn't go with a single 12 on similar power to what you had before because you might be dissapointed with the output. If you liked how loud it was with 3 you might want to stick with 2 12s at least.
I'm sure after answering the questions Mark asked we'll be able to help a bit more.
