Gold Member Username: MgbcsMaple Grove, Minnesota Post Number: 2722 Registered: Dec-06 | Alright, I'm going to try to kill two birds with one stone. 1) My buddy has a DD1508 that stopped working on him. It was only getting like 300RMS, so I would think it would have been hard to fry it. Do I need to just take a DMM to the coils, or what do I do to check this thing out? It doesn't smell burnt, but I can't see the leads as they are woven underneath. (Basically, if the thing is fried, he'll be getting rid of it. If that's the case, let me know if you're interested in it) 2) I need some 8" sub suggestions for the same kid (in the case that it's fried). He is looking to run two subs, running 700ish RMS or less, spend maybe $100 each. I've run RL-i and 1508, but don't know many others. Thanks for the help, as always, fellas! Ben |

Gold Member Username: MgbcsMaple Grove, Minnesota Post Number: 2725 Registered: Dec-06 | Thieves I was definitely considering those. Denim, are those available on the site? I guess I haven't seen them? |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsMaple Grove, Minnesota Post Number: 2726 Registered: Dec-06 | Denim I can't access the SSA site. I've had this issue before and I don't know what happens. Anyways, can you get me some info on price/specs/etc? |

Gold Member Username: JtownTexas Post Number: 3436 Registered: Mar-07 | BCS he said the SOUNDSPLINTER orhpans, which are NOT SSA product |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsMaple Grove, Minnesota Post Number: 2728 Registered: Dec-06 | I understand that. They don't have them on the SS site and doing a google search showed SSA as having them. like I said, the issue I am having is for some reason I can't access that site thru Firefox or explorer. |
Silver Member Username: DenimSoundSolutionsAudio.com, MD USA Post Number: 837 Registered: Nov-06 | The site is loading for me in Chrome, IE, FF and Maxthon. Maybe try clearing your cookies and see if that helps. But specs you asked: T/S Parameters for the Orphan 8 Single 6 Ohm: Qts - 0.405 Qes - 0.442 Qms - 4.778 Fs - 34.289 Hz Re - 5.25 Ohm Ls - 12.16mH Lp - 4.053 mH Rp - 25.46 Ohm Vas - 5.031 L Mms - 214.1 g Cms - 100.6 m/N Bl - 23.39 T*m Sensitivity - 78.44 dB 17mm Xmax I believe rms is the same as the RL-i, so right in the range of 300-500 each is plenty. They are tiny box drivers, so you could fit more if you wanted to. SoundSplinter Orphan8 |

I actually designed it for a single DD2510 originally. Even leaves room on the passenger side to mount an amp. audible.insanity@gmail.com |

Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana Team Audible... Post Number: 7213 Registered: Mar-04 | Mark, Yea...I remember that guy. He had and RF 4ch, 2 RF bd1000's and 4 R's in a chitty single chambered sealed box. The amps were not even strapped and it was all run off a single run of FAKE 4ga! I built an 8cuft box w/ 3 6" flares tuned to 38hz on paper, strapped the amps, mounted the batt was was rolling around in the trunk, slapped a quick mount-board up in the corner for the 4ch (was mounted on the old box) and totally rewired it all w/ 1/0ga. The low end from that Grand Marques (iirc) was nice after all that His buddy came to pick it up and couldn't believe the guy didn't buy a single piece of new equipment. Said the whole thing sounded like a totally new system. Its a small world. BCS, I'll email you the sketchup file tomorrow. It is on the shop computer. ps... feg |
