Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 01:33 GMT Just short wires? Solder or crimp them. I use crimp-caps for cheap tweet installs.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 01:41 GMT Crimp caps will give you a pretty good connection, fine unless you are running higher power. Solder and a cap or heat-shrink is better. If you are not good at soldering, just go w/ the cap. Not a barrel, a crimp-cap.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 02:46 GMT My full comp set is wired w/ 14ga. I use 12ga for customers sub installs...8ga for big power. Most basic tweet installs get 18ga. But I get alot of morons that just want some of 'dem eyeballs', so that kinda doesn't count...lol. I just charge $25 though...these are the same morons that would rather a kicker 'competition' over a DD512

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 06:00 GMT The maximum RMS power handling of most tweeters is ~10 watts. Yes you read that right. 18-20 gauge speaker wire is plenty.

Correct me if Im wrong but going from a size down to a smaller size wire can never hurt as long as the smallest size is what you need... i.e. running a 1/0 wire to a distro and then 4 ga to an amp w/ 4 ga inputs

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 14:21 GMT Andrew is right Does't hurt at all unless the smaller size is smaller than what you need.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 22:00 GMT IIsco makes a distribution block that goes from 3 runs of 500MCM to 18 runs of 12awg, i'd do that. -or- 3 runs of 500MCM, to IIsco pole distribution block, into 18 runs of 4awg. Wire the 18 runs of 4 awg, into 9 Stinger SHD21 distribution blocks, into 36 runs of 12awg. 36 runs of 12awg, into 9 Monster 100 series dblocks, to 9 runs of 18awg. You would end up with 9 random runs of 18awg but it would look SICK. Heres a pic of the dblock... For those of you who dont know what 500MCM wire is, google it...
