Silver Member Username: Boston_splHighland, CA United States Post Number: 101 Registered: Nov-08 | I'm looking for 2 subs for a 2001 GMC Yukon XL. I want an SPL setup with fairly decent SQ, but not quite SQL. So like, 80% SPL & 20% SQ or so. I'd prefer not to go above 15". I also want to buy from an authorized dealer, as these two places are. I realize one sub is 1.5" smaller than the other, but it's also $400 more so I would hope that the engineering & quality make up for the small cone area difference. So, which one do you guys think is a better quality sub, better for SPL, and which one is the best bang-for-the-buck? Silver Member Username: Boston_splHighland, CA United States Post Number: 102 Registered: Nov-08 | No, I didn't compare the two. I asked you guys to. And actually, I contrasted the two. I'll look into the Fi BL P.rick. Thanks. |

Platinum Member Username: GlasswolfRaccoon City, MI USA Post Number: 12247 Registered: Dec-03 | the W7 is really more of a high excursion SQ sub, like the Fi Q or RE XXX. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinTeam DLSSuperNatural... Post Number: 6107 Registered: Nov-05 | so to answer the question, MT.. or a similar sub But again, do you honestly have the money to run such two subs as they should be ran and not blow something up in the mean time |
Silver Member Username: Kingandsons07TEAM REVOLUTION Lincoln,NE Post Number: 451 Registered: Aug-08 | wow lol |
Silver Member Username: Boston_splHighland, CA United States Post Number: 103 Registered: Nov-08 | Oh, ok, I see. So a W7 will have similar excursion and SQ as a new RE XXX. Where as the RE MT is more of a straight SPL sub. Gotcha. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinTeam DLSSuperNatural... Post Number: 6110 Registered: Nov-05 | the new XXX is more spl than sq vs the older version of it |
Silver Member Username: Boston_splHighland, CA United States Post Number: 105 Registered: Nov-08 | That should be obvious just buy looking at it. |
Gold Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 1647 Registered: Apr-07 | How much power will you be running daily? How much for burps? What frequency do you plan on tuning to? The MT is going to be the way to go out of those two. |
Silver Member Username: Boston_splHighland, CA United States Post Number: 106 Registered: Nov-08 | I actually won't be burping, but I'm looking to run about 4kw daily. I was thinking of tuning to maybe like mid to high 30's, like 36-37ish, remember I'm not burping so that's why I'm tuning low. I'm also thinking of getting a 300A Iraggi alt. and a couple Powermaster XS D3100's. |

The Mechman is better ;) I would get 2 Fi BLs (or the MTs) or BTLs. I've run 2000+ to a BL and it handle it fine, but the BTL/MT would give you room to upgrade in the future. Just a matter of price and your experience/comfortability imo. I love my D3100s though, 2 of those batts should be plenty for 4kw with a good alt or two. |

I've only had mine for a few months and am already starting to have problems with it. I also agree with all the recommendations that have been given as far as subs. And just to reiterate what has already been said, a spl sub the w7 is NOT, trust me. |
Platinum Member Username: GlasswolfRaccoon City, MI USA Post Number: 12255 Registered: Dec-03 | actually I was referring to the first generation RE XXX in my previous post. I ran two of them in an aperiodic enclosure with 1500WRMS each. They did nicely for SQ. |
