Sorry Kev but thats a fail. There are some cars that came OEM with reflectors and HIDs. Most dumb azzes dont know how to adjust them to avoid blinding everyone else. All it takes is a few turns of a wrench or screwdriver and volia, no blinding anyone |

Gold Member Username: Killerzracing71Post Number: 2354 Registered: Aug-05 | Aight Bj Jack is right and so is andrew. There are cars that take Reflector Hid bulbs but they are Called D2R bulbs (correct me if im wrong) which are not interchangable with any stock light out there. (unless it was HID from the factory) Regular Projectors take D2S and D1S bulbs what you are going to get is an HID bulb thats rebased to fit your lights DONT DO IT, waste of time, and DOES BLID EVERYONE You do Need Projectors, its a must, waste of all the light you actually want to take advantage of. Regular Bulbs use a filament, while Hids use a arc, they dont throw light the same way at all. Im doing a Bi xenon Retro in my wagon E55 Projectors. and it will not blind anyone, use all the light and spread it the correct way, and look cool. No projector No HID and as for color dont go over 6k anything over that is a waste and is EXTREMLY stupid and pointless, Start loosing Lumens the higher the Temp. |
Gold Member Username: ShortysetniesAndrew Capps, NC US Post Number: 3088 Registered: Mar-06 | M.S. Email me at shortysetnies@yahoo.com and we will talk
I beg to differ. 1. Ive passed my own car just to test and I dont blind other drivers. 2. It may be a "waste of light" but I would pay the $100 for the extra light I get out of my bulbs. I run 4300 in my lows and fogs and I wont go back to halogens ever. AS LONG AS YOU CAN TURN A WRENCH OR SCREW DRIVER, YOU WONT BLIND PEOPLE. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN... |
Gold Member Username: DeadrabitMarionville, MO Post Number: 1220 Registered: Jun-07 | going over 6k is not a waste. if u want some color u can get some color . it might not be as bright but it will be brighting than stock and have some color to it i don't know anything about these projectors. do u have a link? |
Bronze Member Username: TrueaudiophileNew York Post Number: 46 Registered: Jul-08 | HID lights are awesome period. like a few have said, you can adjust the headlights so it don't blind people. but nothing beats the razor cut look of the projectors. |
Gold Member Username: Killerzracing71Post Number: 2357 Registered: Aug-05 | BJ Okay, if you say so, you can get color by running a Clear lense on a projector, or by adjusting spacing of the lense, or moving the Cutoff sheild. Do you live in area where theres snow, or fog, or rains alot? Youll wish you didnt have a temp over 6k Dude if your set on some Hids get them, Im just throwing it out there, but to do it the proper way, and work the way it was intended you need projectors. Im getting E55 Bixenons there are Bi xenon TLs, http://www.civicforums.com/forums/7-honda-civic-diys-civic-tech-chat/305080-diy- gearboxs-projector-retrofit.html E55 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhWKXmCF73U E46 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvxUWYKA3_Y FX/35,45, Murano http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiTiCmtVAlA&feature=related Single TSX, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PEKCFV72o8&feature=related S2000, http://powerplayhouse.com/dk2/diyhid.html To name a few This is what your pattern will look like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4RdiDP0wfs&search=Hidding Pencil beam it doesnt spread at all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcX63e7peV0&search=Hidding Look at the awesome Glare that you get on the last one |

Gold Member Username: Killerzracing71Post Number: 2358 Registered: Aug-05 | Okay, what the best way to run HIDs is projectors, they look and work better. You can run a PNP (plug and play kit) but it will not realy help. The Projectors I bought cost me 100$ they can range up to 300+ My whole retro for me is prolly going to cost around 300 I had to get clear lenses for my Caprice (70$) and I want Clear lense for my projectors to get more color and a sharper cutoff. WHat kind of vehicle do you drive? again its up to you if you feel its too much to do a Retro dont do it, but its the best way. read on www.hidplanet.com and learn about lights I was going to do the same thing but Projectors are d CHIT |

Gold Member Username: MixmastaspigTeam RD, Canada Post Number: 1975 Registered: Sep-05 | @Jack Sounds good. Here is maybe "dumb" question as I have never done lights before. Since the people put in the different headlight kit, do the bulbs change? This is pretty much what is in the car right now and they did not keep the stock lights which are freaking expensive to buy... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-2007-2008-CIVIC-4D-4DR-LED-PROJECTOR-HEADLIG HTS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a13 18Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem3501535743 54QQitemZ350153574354QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ebayphotoho sting |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinTeam DLSSuperNatural... Post Number: 6150 Registered: Nov-05 | To do it properly you would want to use a different headlight with HID projectors, not Halogen projectors. Thank link did not work for me. Since you say it is a different headlight the bulb may be different.. odds are they did not replace it with anything HID or else you would not be wanting a kit so I'd be safe to assume it is a stock bulb. Only way to be sure is to take it out and read what size it is then just order that bulb type when you order the kit. |
Gold Member Username: MixmastaspigTeam RD, Canada Post Number: 1976 Registered: Sep-05 | Here is the picture of the current lights. The bulbs do look cheap and nothing fancy and they look like that came with the kit.....what I might do is order a whole new kit as I like the darkened headlights better, then buy the bulbs for it. |
Diamond Member Username: BestmankindPost Number: 23178 Registered: Oct-05 | ebay projectors are garbage. stay away from them. the output sux and the cut off isn't as sharp. not to mention it won't fit like the oem lights. do a retro. although there are some that customized a ebay projectors with the s2k lenses and it looks awesome. i will be getting a hid kit for my fogs. i won't do my lights until i get a retro with s2k projectors. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinTeam DLSSuperNatural... Post Number: 6158 Registered: Nov-05 | you'd be better buying another set of oem headlights.. blacking them out and installing you oem projectors as a retrofit www.hidplanet.com you can use tho.. but those are just halogen projectors.. as long as they don't heat up and melt you'll be fine.. no telling if they will since they are not oem quality ill upload a pic or two of the kit/harness/bulbs from apexcone.. its the ddm slim ballast |
Gold Member Username: MixmastaspigTeam RD, Canada Post Number: 1977 Registered: Sep-05 | Yeah, the only problem is that to order the OEM headlights I'm looking at like $500 and I wouldn't want to wreck them in case I messed up, then I just wasted $500! Plus, we own a townhouse which means no garage or tools......yet! As far as power tools go, I only have a drill. Can you get a better quality set of projectors/headlight kits with better lights anywhere else? Ebay is just an easy option but I would be willing to pay more for the higher quality stuff. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinTeam DLSSuperNatural... Post Number: 6160 Registered: Nov-05 | You might be able to find a forum who has someone who does retrofits.. but look at spending $1k plus for headlights.. you can order OEM lights off ebay for less?! I can find a pair of mine for $250-$300 on there |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinTeam DLSSuperNatural... Post Number: 6161 Registered: Nov-05 | Heres the kit I ordered from that link I posted.. cost me more since 3000k bulbs was additional.. was $125 shipped lifetime warranty |
Gold Member Username: MixmastaspigTeam RD, Canada Post Number: 1978 Registered: Sep-05 | Hrmmm. Well I guess I will look into buying some sweet bulbs for my current lights and go from there. If they still suck I'll check the auto wreckers before the internet. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinTeam DLSSuperNatural... Post Number: 6162 Registered: Nov-05 | your best bet is www.hidplanet.com if you want to source parts for a retrofit.. you should be safe running HIDs in those projectors.. but just keep an eye on it.. if you see the housing starting to melt put some normal bulbs in it the 35w kit won't be as hot as the 55w kit |
Gold Member Username: MixmastaspigTeam RD, Canada Post Number: 1979 Registered: Sep-05 | How do I know what kit/bulbs to order for my car? I was looking and I have no idea....
