Silver Member Username: MmaudioconceptsPost Number: 598 Registered: Jan-07 | take the wire, put it in the little hole, take a sledge hammer and put it out on some concrete, beat the thing down. it wont come off easy at all. |
Silver Member Username: Kingandsons07TEAM REVOLUTION Lincoln,NE Post Number: 374 Registered: Aug-08 | yeah i did that came right out now the copper ones i love |
Gold Member Username: BonhamdPost Number: 1583 Registered: Nov-07 | i have a big cable crimper that i picked up at lowes - one of the best tools i have ever bought i used terminals similar to the ones BLK posted and after being crimped with that tool, i cannot pull the terminals off if i tried |
Silver Member Username: WickedbassNashville, Tn Post Number: 201 Registered: Jan-08 | I have found the thing that works best for those type of ring terminals is to put the wire/ring terminal into a bench vise and tighten it up as much as you physically can. A lot more even/professional looking than the hammer method. I have yet to have one come off or even begin to get loose. This works well if you dont have any cripper tools. ^^^I dont have one of those big cripper tools btw. I need one though. How much was it? |
Gold Member Username: BonhamdPost Number: 1584 Registered: Nov-07 | i have a vise and it worked pretty good but i think the tool i used makes it more secure - the thing is a monster it was relatively cheap as well - like $22 ill try to get a pic up later |
Silver Member Username: Kingandsons07TEAM REVOLUTION Lincoln,NE Post Number: 375 Registered: Aug-08 | yeah thanks daniel i need to look in to them too |
Gold Member Username: DeadrabitMarionville, MO Post Number: 1134 Registered: Jun-07 | i also use a bench vise and solder it. i have had one that just slid off. the solder just fell off and it just slid right off. all of the others have stayed on really well. one of them i had to get off and i thought i was going to have to cut the wire and get a new one. with different terminals there is no difference in how it conducts is ther? |
Gold Member Username: Tatonka-[Team Audible Insanity]- Post Number: 2543 Registered: Mar-07 | There is a special technique to doing those terminals with a hammer. Basically you hit one side of it down below the other. Then you hammer the other side down, causing the one under it to "roll" where the terminal now is basically a cylinder than you hammer down flat. |
Gold Member Username: BonhamdPost Number: 1586 Registered: Nov-07 | i had a hard time with the hammer - i tried to do what nick v said but i just got too frustrated "with different terminals there is no difference in how it conducts is ther?" i would assume copper is the best but i cant see it making a huge difference |
Gold Member Username: BonhamdPost Number: 1587 Registered: Nov-07 | this is the tool i use - works wonders for me |
Silver Member Username: WickedbassNashville, Tn Post Number: 203 Registered: Jan-08 | Yup. ^^^Gotta get me one of those now. Ive seen smaller versions of those but never one that big. Next trip to lowes/home depot im going to grab one. |
Gold Member Username: BonhamdPost Number: 1589 Registered: Nov-07 | ya its pretty sweet its not in the electrical section - its in the cable, rope, and chain section i was suprised it was only $22 when hand crimpers that work on 10-16 guage are $30-40 |
Gold Member Username: BernymacPhnom PenhCambodia Post Number: 4496 Registered: Sep-04 | Very nice Daniel. I needed one of those. |

Gold Member Username: Th3pwn3rI compensate... Post Number: 9040 Registered: Jul-06 | A hammer and the ground seems to work well. |
Gold Member Username: Hittin1Lake Charles, La. United States Post Number: 1877 Registered: May-07 | I like the clean look of a properly crimped lug over the flat smashed look.(admittingly 1/2 of mine are flat and smashed) |
Gold Member Username: MendonmafiaUSA Post Number: 1619 Registered: Aug-06 | i broke 2 vice's crimping on wire terminals but the wires will NEVER pull out. plus i soldered them with a torch and tons of solder. |
Gold Member Username: MendonmafiaUSA Post Number: 1620 Registered: Aug-06 | also it helps to only crimp half of the terminal at first so that the little slit is split apart then you can wrap the other side around and it makes it very tight and looks very clean too |
