take the wire, put it in the little hole, take a sledge hammer and put it out on some concrete, beat the thing down. it wont come off easy at all.

i have a big cable crimper that i picked up at lowes - one of the best tools i have ever bought

i used terminals similar to the ones BLK posted and after being crimped with that tool, i cannot pull the terminals off if i tried

I have found the thing that works best for those type of ring terminals is to put the wire/ring terminal into a bench vise and tighten it up as much as you physically can. A lot more even/professional looking than the hammer method. I have yet to have one come off or even begin to get loose. This works well if you dont have any cripper tools.

^^^I dont have one of those big cripper tools btw. I need one though. How much was it?

i have a vise and it worked pretty good but i think the tool i used makes it more secure - the thing is a monster

it was relatively cheap as well - like $22

ill try to get a pic up later

i also use a bench vise and solder it. i have had one that just slid off. the solder just fell off and it just slid right off. all of the others have stayed on really well. one of them i had to get off and i thought i was going to have to cut the wire and get a new one.

with different terminals there is no difference in how it conducts is ther?

There is a special technique to doing those terminals with a hammer. Basically you hit one side of it down below the other. Then you hammer the other side down, causing the one under it to "roll" where the terminal now is basically a cylinder than you hammer down flat.

i had a hard time with the hammer - i tried to do what nick v said but i just got too frustrated

"with different terminals there is no difference in how it conducts is ther?"

i would assume copper is the best but i cant see it making a huge difference

ya its pretty sweet

its not in the electrical section - its in the cable, rope, and chain section

i was suprised it was only $22 when hand crimpers that work on 10-16 guage are $30-40

A hammer and the ground seems to work well.

I like the clean look of a properly crimped lug over the flat smashed look.(admittingly 1/2 of mine are flat and smashed)

i broke 2 vice's crimping on wire terminals but the wires will NEVER pull out. plus i soldered them with a torch and tons of solder.

also it helps to only crimp half of the terminal at first so that the little slit is split apart then you can wrap the other side around and it makes it very tight and looks very clean too
