Can I use bolts as box terminals?

Can I drill holes in my box and put bolts through them to serve as terminals? I would put a ring terminal on the speaker wire and then secure it to the bolt with a nut, on the inside and the outside of the box. Is there anything I should be aware of like coatings on the bolts or something?

Thanks, Chris

Standard hardware grade bots work fine for that.... I have done that in several installs. I prefer running wire direct through the box though, and sealing around it.

I'm running a dual 2 ohm sub in parallel to 1 ohm at 1200 watts. What gauge wire should I use? I was planning on running 8 gauge to the positive and negative on the box, then inside the box, have two 10 gauge wires branching off both the positive and negative to the voice coils. Is this good?

audioque 1200d and Fi Q btw

Thats fine you don't even need wires that big.

i like using bolts for terminals...use 4 bolts, 1 for each pos/neg...it makes it quick and easy to switch your wire config without removing the sub from the box
