I know, I am just plain full of questions, you guys are a great help. My friend gave me a 12" sub, because it has a crack in the cone. (He dropped an amp on it) It makes strange noises because of the air flowing thru the crack. Would there be anything wrong with putting some epoxy on the back of the cone where the crack is, to seal it? Maybe also some silver paint on the front to conceal the crack?
I'd say that you could try it, I'm no expert, but if you got the sub for free, why not try it? Just try to make it smooth and even out the epoxy so it's not lumpy, heck you might get lucky and it could make the cone more rigid and make the bass a little harder, but once again, I'm just speculating.

Ok, I put the epoxy on, I'll look for some paint that matches pretty close tomorrow. It doesn't look like the fumes melted anything, so I may just pull it off. The real test will be when I get it in a box and put some power into the thing.
