Bronze Member Username: Bryanwalsh524Post Number: 57 Registered: Sep-04 | So i'm pretty sure i overheated my cerwin vega stroker 10" sub cause it was smoking for a while and then it just stopped working. So i'm lookin into new subs or sub. i've picked out a few and need to know which is a better choice. i LOVE a high SPL but i want an even better SQ. These are a few i picked tell me which you think i should go for. RE: XXX 12" 15" or 18" Soundstream XXX 15" or 18" Soundstream reference R1 12" or 15" Cerwin Vega Stroker Pro 12" or 15" JL 13w7 Image Dynamics iDMax 12" Adire Brahma 15" i have no clue which to go for or if theirs an even better choice in subwoofer. Depending on price i may get 2 of the subwoofer unless they are in the JL 13w7 range than just 1. Thanks |

Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 6572 Registered: Feb-06 | depends on what brahma you're talking about. and i've heard the same on the xxxs', from what i've read the best ones were the 2005 and older models. personally, i'd go for a pair of idmaxs'. |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10611 Registered: Jun-04 | The idmaxs are supposed to have excellent sq and it sounds like the spl is fine too. So nothing wrong with that choice. |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 6573 Registered: Feb-06 | you have heard correct sean. imo, the idmax is the best sub available, and i can't wait for the 15" model to come out. |

Ctmike, Im saving just for that sub...Should be out in Dec. Byran, I'd Second Ctmike's suggestion of 2 idmaxes. I own both 10" and 12" models and i wouldn't trade them for anything. If not you can try the single Brahma(preferably mk II ), if you can find one. Both subs are terrific sql drivers. |

W7 - Is slightly louder than the idmax 2 12" ported Maxes will be sick setup... |
Bronze Member Username: Bryanwalsh524Post Number: 60 Registered: Sep-04 | ok thanks. you said as little as 200wrms. since each sub is 1000watt rms it would still sound great with a 1500watt rms or 2000watt rms amp? I would probably keep my old amp to power it. Its a Massive Audio P1500.1 Would 2 12" or 15" IdMax's be louder SPL wise than my 1 10" CV Stroker? comparing them both off the same size amp? because i want a louder system then my stroker was pushing even though my friends said i'm crazy. Sorry for all these questions but thanks! |

" Based off of cone area, yes. The idmaxs should be louder. |

I would easly take an 04-05 RE XXX hands down.. The trouble is finding some in great condition.. They are simply AMAZiNG SQL drivers.. Either way you cant go wrong! |
Silver Member Username: TreezIts not loud til it he... Post Number: 402 Registered: Aug-06 | That amp will more than get the job done... Just ensure you get the correct voice coil config.on the subs to match the amp's operating impedance at 1500rms. Goodluck... Be sure to post a review... |
