Hey guys, I've been thinking about getting some component speakers lately, but I havnt seen any that will fit my car(Olds Alero). I wanna put them in the same place as the stock speakers(4x6 and some 1"(I think) tweeters). I dont want to make pods for the speakers because I dont have experience with fiberglass and I dont want to do any permanent modifications to my car. I wouldnt be opposed to building a custom component set with parts from like partsexpress, but I would need some instructions on how to build a well tuned component system.

So if anyone has any suggestions for me that would be great.

Ohh yeah. My budget is no more than $150.

i say some diamond audio hex's. They're like 189, which isn't bad at all.Or go with some D6's. And you can also buy adapters for your car to make it fit whatever size you want.

You will not fit anything bigger than a 4 or 4x6 component in the door of an olds alero. The mounting depth is EXTREMELY shallow. Also, the molding of the door gets in the way for anything over that size.

The only way to fit a nice component set in will be to build pods. Believe me, I have tried every other way lol.

And the adapters...

Don't know if your car is in there, but i think you could just google it and it might pop up.

Is there a way I can build an easily removable pod?

Mine is removable. It is bolted onto the door.

It isn't hard to fiberglass. I have step by step tutorials with pics of how I did mine.

Is it expensive to do? Like will it cost less than buying a Q-Logic pod? If so please send the tutorial.

Id have to explain it all over to you through AIM.

It isn't too expensive. Maybe like $60?
1 gallon of resin, a few years of mat, some body filler and filler primer.

Well that sounds pretty good. Do you think I could make kickpannels rather than door pannels? Also I probably wont be doin this for a while, but I'll let you know when Im getting ready to start.

Kickpanels are pretty much a no-go.

Go sit in your car like you usually would. You'll see that we don't have much leg room as it is. There really isn't a place to put kickpanels that won't get in the way.

You wont have any leg room. In the alero, they aren't tucked away like that lol.

I had the same issue with my blazer. No mounting depth whatsoever in the door, it didn't even have speakers in the doors to begin with.

Had to build enclosures. Mine are MDf though, not the best cosmetics but you can't make a better enclosure.

Pods are the way to go. It really isn't that hard.

You wont be able to mount a flat MDF enclosure on our doors lol. Too many curves.

L brackets and screws to mount it, worked great.

On my doors the metal frame is relatively flat though.
