Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 85 Registered: Nov-07 | Im running them with a dual amp right now.. 150 watts each lol. Im going to hook up a 600 watt pioneer amp. So double the wattage. Should it be noticeably louder? And does pioneer make good amps? b/c this dual one, the red light turns on and it doesnt work on some songs... |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 86 Registered: Nov-07 | Also, i need to know how to hook up 2 4ohm cvrs, to a monoblock amp. Diagram plz??!?!!? |
Gold Member Username: Stateprop486PA Post Number: 1591 Registered: Jan-08 | "b/c this dual one, the red light turns on and it doesnt work on some songs..." the red light means the amp is going into protection mode...and causing it to shut down. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp~Q~2~I~42 |

All positives together, all negitives together. Are they dual voice coil subs? if so thats a 1 ohm load, and pioneer amp may not work well long. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 87 Registered: Nov-07 | theres no way to wire 4 ohm cvrs down to two ohms ?? do cvrs even come on single voice coil? |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 88 Registered: Nov-07 | i foudn out they are dual voice coil. 4 ohms. so i need to wire them down to one channel, with 2ohm. any help?! |
Silver Member Username: SnacksQuincy, Florida USA Post Number: 105 Registered: Jul-08 | 2 4ohm cvrs only wire to 4 ohms or 1 ohm. do 4 unless your amp can handle a 1 ohm load |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10345 Registered: Jun-04 | You have your current amp wired to 1 ohm thats why the protection light is coming on. If you keep it hooked up that way you will blow the amp. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 89 Registered: Nov-07 | your posotive about this? i called best buy and he said that u could wire them downt to 2 ohm somehow |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 90 Registered: Nov-07 | how do u know ive got it wired to 1 ohm? and why the f*ck would they sell subs taht cant be wired down to 2 ohms.. |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10346 Registered: Jun-04 | "your posotive about this? i called best buy and he said that u could wire them downt to 2 ohm somehow" You probably told them you had single four ohm subs and if that was true that would be right but it isnt since you have two dual 4 ohm subs. You can only get 4 ohm or 1 ohm with two of those subs. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 91 Registered: Nov-07 | i told them they were dvc. Can you show me a good amp thats cheap thats 1 ohm stable? |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10347 Registered: Jun-04 | "how do u know ive got it wired to 1 ohm?" Im pretty sure because the amp sounds like its going into protection when the red light comes on. Lets check how do you have it wired? "and why the f*ck would they sell subs taht cant be wired down to 2 ohms." Well either they didnt no they were dual 4 ohm subs and thought they were single 4 ohms or you didnt think to ask if it was compatible with your amp the way you wanted to use it. Also not all amps are just 2 ohms stable if you didnt know. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 92 Registered: Nov-07 | anyone know about cadence? TXA-750d is a 600 watt monoblock amp at 1 ohm. |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10348 Registered: Jun-04 | "i told them they were dvc. Can you show me a good amp thats cheap thats 1 ohm stable?" If you told them they were dual 4 ohm and they told you that they could be wired to 2 ohms then they shouldnt be working there because its not possible. Whats your budget for an amp? |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 93 Registered: Nov-07 | i dont wanna spend much at all. That cadence amp is perfect but i dont want it overheating or some crap.. 1 ohm? wouldnt it over heat? |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10350 Registered: Jun-04 | I dont know much about cadence but if you cant go higher on the budget than $99.00 for the one on ebay then you can try it. |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 6467 Registered: Feb-06 | you'll have no problems with that cadence amp. i'm running a txa1000d and it is a great budget amp, well worth the money. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 94 Registered: Nov-07 | ok great man thanks alot. even if i run it at 1 ohm the whole time? |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 95 Registered: Nov-07 | So if im correct i can only run my subs at 1/4/8ohms? i cant wire them down to 2 ohms b/c they are 4ohm dual voice coil. So im going to look for an amp that is 300x2 or 600x1. does it matter? id reall like to have 400x2 but thats hard to find. or 800x1 |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 96 Registered: Nov-07 | so im going to buy a cadence amp 600 watt by 1 channel rms at 1 ohm. this is totaly possible? to run with these dvc 40hm cvrs? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 6469 Registered: Feb-06 | yes, a pair of 4ohm dvc subs can wire to 1ohm. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 97 Registered: Nov-07 | ct mike, are you running your cadence amp at 1 ohm also? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 6470 Registered: Feb-06 | right now, no. running it at 2ohm. have ran it at 1ohm before with no problems, and as soon as i get a box made for another sub i have i'll be running it at 1ohm again. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 98 Registered: Nov-07 | hmm ic, i talked to the guys at bestbuy and he said running 4 ohm subs at anything but 4 ohms would be bad for them? im going to be running 2 12" cvr dvc 4ohm subs at 1 ohm. Is that ok if the amp is 1 ohm stable? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 6471 Registered: Feb-06 | like it has been posted numerous times before, yes, it will be fine. |
Silver Member Username: Imalik15 SI Mag9.1=Boom, New Jersey Jerzee Playa Post Number: 616 Registered: May-06 | I would say get a bigger amp,,1000 -1200 rms...cvr's are 400rms each, a 600 rms amp is ok, Im sure you put it to protect mode again pushing too hard. A ok cheap amp like a Hifonics 1208 says 1200 more like 950 rms will suite you better |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10355 Registered: Jun-04 | "hmm ic, i talked to the guys at bestbuy and he said running 4 ohm subs at anything but 4 ohms would be bad for them?" If this is the kind of things this shop is telling you id say steer clear of them. Also if the cadance amp is all you can afford it will push the subs you have just fine. Like I said before you probably went into protect because you are wired to 1 ohm and that amp isnt designed for that. Just to make sure how was it wired? |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10356 Registered: Jun-04 | If it was wired like this on the old amp that was the problem. |
Silver Member Username: Imalik15 SI Mag9.1=Boom, New Jersey Jerzee Playa Post Number: 617 Registered: May-06 | Is you old amp 1 ohm stable?? if not that could be your problem...did you set the gain properly?? Stay away from BB http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm4aaC87ARg |

Thats a big no on the one ohm stable question. |
Bronze Member Username: LeapoldstotchPost Number: 100 Registered: Nov-07 | its not wire to one ohm i dont think. its not wired down to one terminal. its wired down to two terminals. |
Platinum Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 10376 Registered: Jun-04 | What do you mean by its only wired to one terminal? On the amp? |
