I ran acroos a major problem... I seem to have busted something loose it the roof of my jeep. When the bass hits the roof of my Jeep sounds like something came loose due to the flex, ect..At first it sounded like I blew the side out of my box, but I got the noise to stop by putting pressure on the roof from the outside. Has anyone ran across this problem? What likely came loose? Crossmember weld maybe? How difficult is it to repair? Since I'll likely have to pull the headliner to repair, should I put some kind of sound deadener? If so, what should I use? Effective but inexpensive preferred. Thanks in advance.
Need help A.S.A.P. I have to weigh out my options with the hurricane, in case of mandatory evacuation...
"Effective but inexpensive preferred." sorry if I wasn't clear... That was refering to the sound deadener.
I need the repair to be done the best way possible. I don't know exactly what is broke up there but I doubt it will be expensive to fix... Was hoping someone else has had a similar problem and could let me know what the possabilities were..
It does sound like a weld came loose on you. I had this happen in my PT Cruiser. The thing is rock solid and nothing rattled. Swapped out the in the door speakers for something with a little more thump and it loosened up something in the door. Everytime I played music with some deep prolonged bass, it rattled. Had to take it apart again and get someone to spot weld a piece back on. Tiny weld, but loud buzzy annoying noise.
Is the noise anywhere near the light in the roof? Perhaps you can reach it without taking out the headliner.
