Just use a threaded rod to do some bracing. Shouldn't really effect anything.

Don't listen to Nick V, he's an idiot. It's supposed to be 1.66811 away.

Also, the threaded rod will cause air flow issues and cause turbulence. You have to use a non-threaded rod because of it's smoothness.

Rob, it is defiantly 1.3493274 inches. There is a flaw in your math. You have to divide gross diameter by the net length, then the null hypotheses causes you to divide by zero. This leads to a proportion of mild depression for a temporary time. As soon as you get out of this period of cursed depression, 1.3493274 is the number you randomly say.

"Also, the threaded rod will cause air flow issues and cause turbulence."

The threads give the sound something to wrap around, or grip to. Causing it to be happier and louder.

"you have to use a non-threaded rod because of it's smoothness."

Would you stop thinking of things long and smooth?

What sounds better to you a short and rough rod or a long and smooth rod? I'm sure everyone will agree on the second. Also, you used Darwin's theory which will give you an incorrect result. Go back and re-check your calculations and use the periodic table of elements in your figures. That should give you the correct result.

On the real, stick with what the box is made out of to make braces. All thread (threaded rod) is good for SPL boxes only. This is because everything has a resonance frequency and dependant on its length it will resonate causing coloration in the music. This is soley dependant on the length and tension of the all thread meaning it is a crapshoot. It is always better to stick with the same MDF or even hardwood dowel as a brace. Polo..

Well, it would of been helpful to know the design layout of the enclosure as to where the port is and how it's positioned with the enclosure.

Personally, dowel and threaded rods are useless because they on brace a point location and not the entire span of the panels to be braced.

You do want bracing though but you also dont want to impede air flow.
