Im going to be running a RD 1000.1 and a component amp around 300 wrms and Im trying to decide if I should just pick up a nice, second battery or get a bigger alt. I obviously want to go with the cheaper option but I want to do it right. Any input?

the battery will help but nothing can replace the alt.
the alt will cost u a lot more but also put out more.
the only bad thing about the bigger alt (other than money) is that every 30 more amps it take 1hours power more to run. so less milage

How much do you plan on running your system during driving?

if u have 90 amp alt at idle it takes about 3 horse power

if u have a 120 amp alt it will take about 4 horse power

if u have a 300 amp alt it will take about 10 horse power

or something close to it. bigger alt less mpg if u even care about that

I plan on listening to it whenever music is on but not at full blast...

I don't think I will be comfortable buying an alt on ebay. Id rather pay more and get something I know will hold up and if it doesn't, I have good customer service and a warranty...

Has anyone heard of gettig your alt rewound to produse higher amperage? Somr of the guys on clubfrontier were talkig about it and said it was cheaper and was the same as getting a newer one. Any suggestions?

watch out with ebay theres a lot of shady auto parts stores on there.

Go motorcityreman or DB Electrical for good alts at good prices

has anyone heard of having their alt rewound? Some guys on clubfrontier were talking about it and said it was the same as buying a new one but it used your stock alt and was cheaper. Anyone know?

capps, if you have at least a 100amp alt you will be fine. I have a 100amp alt and run the 1000.1d and the 55.4 with no problems. there may be slight dimming but not too noticeable, I've heard of a small batt fixing the dimming issue, although I don't, I use a slightly bigger than stock batt and 100 amp alt and see no need to upgrade.

however, I do have 0ga running from the batt to distro in the cargo area of my blazer.

I've got the 3.3L V6.

Motorcityreman is goig to be 334 shipped for 70-80 amps idle, 160 max.
DB Electrical doesn't make one for me.
I called a place DB recommended, Wrangler, and they can custom make a 100-105 idle and 210 max for 499.
I don't plan on upgrading too much, if any, with my amps. Would the Motorcityreman work or would it be worth the extra 160 for the bigger alt?
I should be running no more than 1500 wrms

The 160 amp from MCR should be enough for 1500w

It's important to replace the stock battery with a good one also

Odyssey all the way..... high capacity for the size, fast discharge rate AND deep cycle capable.

if u get it rewound it will be better but i have heard a lot of bad things about that if u don't find a place that does a great job. at one time i was acually going to get that done but a man at the car audio place told me someting.... i really don't know what he said. something about it winding more and being the same alt will not last as long. it made a lot of sense at the time. and i didn't ever try it.
idk. i am going to try something on ebay and see what happens. could go bad for me,
getting ur stock one built up could be good or bad also. kinda a chance on both imo.
but the fact is its only a 1000.1
u don't really need a bigger alt anyways

For a battry, go Powermaster if you have the cash. Great batteries.

Odyssey, Stinger, Hawker, and Tsunami are all the same battery, just a different sticker. If you can find one of those brands cheaper, that would be a decent battery.

Yeah forgot to mention that. There are several other brands of batteries that are made by Odyssey and just re-labeled like stinger, etc.
