so yday i was listening to my subs, and i realized the amp. started smoking. today when i went to start my car, the batt. is dead. this is gonna sound dumb (sorry im a noob in car audio) but is my amp. still drawing from my batt? i turned my radio off and bass settings off so my subs or radio dont turn on at all, but my amp is still lighting up. also, does my dead batt. have something to do with my amp frying, or is it a wierd coincidence?

Well there are 2 possible situations here.

1, your amp is blown and constantly drawing excess current and drained your battery.

2, your battery was dieing and voltage was dropping causing your amp to blow.

Disconnect the amp and recharge the battery and you will find out if the battery is still good. But if the amp smoked, it's toast either way.

thanks for advice but to disconnect the amp i just unplug the wires that are going into the amp, or do i have to completley remove all the wiring from the batt. also? i also have a capacitor so idk if that makes a diff.

could be your alternator not recharging your battery
