Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 8046 Registered: Jul-06 | Well I live in the suburbs in a area where crime is almost non-existent. But tomorrow I'm driving down to west philadelphia and leaving the truck parked on the street overnight. That place is one of the worst crime rates in the entire country. (reason, the chick who I have an nsa "f*ck buddies" relationship with just moved there to be closer to her job but all the nice areas in the city are super expensive) ^^^^ totally unnecessary info I know but since f.a.g bag Rob always talks about how he thinks I don't get any action I felt like posting it Anyways, what do you guys do to make sure your gear doesn't get jacked? Since I'm going to have to do this often now. I pulled the sub box out and will leave it at home, and since my amps are on the back seat I put a blanket over it and it looks like its just a seat cover but hides the amps. And I will take faceplate off the HU, and take out the GPS, EZ pass, change from cupholder, etc. Nothing I can do about the components on the doors though, thats what concerns me. So anyone have any tips, I'd appreciate it, thanks. |

I mean they rob the police down there. It's a zoo. When he had to park his car off campus he was told to spread his fraternity's jacket across the back seat. That way the local smash and grab thieves knew he was part of a fraternity and left his car alone. It worked for him. Camden is one of if not THE worst place to park your car in. Even the rats hide at night there. |

And she likes me to spend the night also. And I think instead of the street her house is on which is a little one-way street I will park around the corner b/c thats a main street, should be less chance of incident I think. And I wonder how much good an alarm really is. I mean it would probably go off every time somebody with subs drives by so it seems like there would be a lot of false alarms...... no? |

I mean it would probably go off every time somebody with subs drives by so it seems like there would be a lot of false alarms...... no?" That depends on the sensitivity. You could have it set to go off for door, trunk or hood opening BUT what are you going to do when those alarms go off and some dude is in your car? That's the thing, sure you can call the cops but how long would it take them to show up. You would have to decide with how to deal with the problem if the thief isn't afraid of your alarm making noise while he's stealing your stuff. |

I don't own any guns though I always borrow my friends if I go hunting with them. Like I said I thought about getting one but I can have a bit of a short temper with some people and I'm a bit wary of what might happen if I had one on hand. Thats really what has stopped me from doing it. |

You can say it's for protection but in the end that protection would come from shooting at or shooting someone. |
Gold Member Username: JkidderWorlds gunna end, In 2012 Post Number: 3709 Registered: Nov-05 | not at all rob. if he was to walk outside while his car is being broken into and have his cell phone upto his ear while he fires the handgun in the air, for instance. that would certainly scare the villain(s) off. then if one pulls out its self defense and he should open fire but most criminals would flee or surrender if the owner is standing there with a cell phone and handgun. ps- i see what you're saying but i've witnessed what i typed above and it worked flawlessly. the robber fleed into the night. he actually took off like michael johnson in the 43 second 400 meter lmao the cisco kid |
Gold Member Username: Th3pwn3rI compensate... Post Number: 8465 Registered: Jul-06 | You could do what you mentioned BUT what you're forgetting is that most criminals these days are armed themselves and care less about committing a crime than half decent people like you and I. Pulling a gun and firing it into the air could end up getting you shot so I don't think it's a good idea personally. |
Gold Member Username: HdubbTeam Revolution Post Number: 3855 Registered: Nov-04 | taking a gun would be a horrible idea. i say take out your system, or just get a 50 motel room in a better area. or a motel rented by the hour lol. but if your worried. take it out mane. |

And I had thought about the hotel also. But the cheapest one is econolodge and thats $85. Doesn't sound like a lot but thats gonna add up if I did that all the time. At least from the outside my truck shouldn't look like it has expensive stuff in it. Just looks like an old Blazer with not much aftermarket stuff on it. |

Gold Member Username: JkidderWorlds gunna end, In 2012 Post Number: 3710 Registered: Nov-05 | if you dont have enough confidence in your shooting it wont matter to you anyway. if you honestly think you cant point a gun from the sky to their body faster than they can pull their hands away from whatever they're doing (unhooking audio equip.), pull out their gun, locate you, then fire, you shouldn't be considering a gun for protection anyways. i'm just saying there's a very good chance he/she wont be reaching for any gun if you already have yours out and fired. the cisco kid |
Gold Member Username: Th3pwn3rI compensate... Post Number: 8467 Registered: Jul-06 | If you think pointing a gun at someone will stop them from pulling a gun out and shooting you you're an idiot. If they're at the point where they don't care that they're stealing your sh1t what makes you think they won't just go for their gun anyways and attempt to shoot you? Even if you shoot them first it doesn't mean you'll kill them instantly and they won't shoot back. |
Gold Member Username: JkidderWorlds gunna end, In 2012 Post Number: 3711 Registered: Nov-05 | confidence in my shooting will guarantee they will not be able to fire their weapon. unloading 4-6 well-grouped rounds will stop anybody from firing their weapon with accuracy. but i see you're point. it's just my opinion. what percentage of crooks would actually have the guts to reach for a weapon while you have a pistol pointed at them? i'd say an extremely small fraction. and even if they do reach for their weapon, either way your sh!ts not getting stolen. even if they have an ultra-fast draw they aren't going to shoot you and then pull your hu and comp set out and run away. hahaha the cisco kid |

Obey the "no bump vicinity" rule. Remove the faceplates. Don't advertise. Alarms are like the woman on the side of the busy road with a flat. It causes a commotion but nobody stops to help. You keep driving by angered about your delay. It doesn't concern you someone else just had a much, much more horrible day. Ppl suck in general like that. |

" In my opinion it's pointless to remove a faceplate because most people leave the faceplates that they've taken off inside their cars and most thieves know that. My brother actually had his head unit stolen and it didn't even have the faceplate on it and it was with him, they still stole his HU. If they want something they're going to get it more than often. |

Gold Member Username: Kpa2727Old Bridge, NJ USA ! Post Number: 1420 Registered: May-07 | just rent a damn car for the day it's prob cheaper, park the rental car there. or if u wanna be like me. honestly i got plans to piss a thief off. i got plans when i go to a really nice loud sq system, if i ever get a damn job. to build the box backwards. i'm planning to build the box so the woofer is sealed in and mounted by clutch head bolts. the type of stuff found on early corvettes so you cant take a thin straight slot screw driver like torx and back them out. then assemble the box so all the bolts and screws to the box are counter sunk and all the mounting brackets to bolt to the floor are aimed at the back seat. so u have to remove the whole back seat to even get at the special bolts. the headunit i'd prob relocate in the glove box so noone sees it. componets i'd figure out a way to ether mount kick pods with a decorative cover. so if i park any where snap on the covers it looks like part of the door. and if theres ever an extream time where i feel i really really must i wire up a 50 thousand volt cattle prodder to my door lock inserts and handles. get one of those little remotes like alarms to turn it on and off. i'm thinking a bit optomisticlly but its all possible. ms in your case i'd still just rent a car and fix up that beater. |

One thing I learned, getting 150 lbs of subs + large weird shaped box out of there is not fun. I couldn't pick it up cause of how big it is. Note to self, next system will have 2 identical boxes one for each sub
Hahaha funny but probably not the best idea ever.... Thief 1: "Hey look there man whats Pyle? Thief 2: "Oh snap son! It's these real b!tchin subs, my boy down in my hood has 2 of those in a plexi box and that sh!t does like 160 db man." Theif 1: * smiles, then smashes window * |
